The compact SUV segment in India is growing at a rapid pace. Each and every automaker wants to enter this segment and grab a bigger piece of the market. For this reason, the upcoming year of 2025 will be filled with compact SUV launches. Hyundai Creta EV
First and foremost, at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Auto Expo, Hyundai will be launching its affordable mass-market electric SUV, the Creta EV. It will feature a very similar design to its ICE sibling. However, the company will add a few unique details to differentiate it. The Creta EV is expected to come equipped with a 45–50 kWh battery pack, which could offer a real-life driving range of around 400–500 km. Pricing will be around Rs 20–25 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki eVitara
Alongside the launch of the Hyundai Creta EV at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki will also be launching its first-ever electric vehicle, the eVitara, in India. This new EV SUV from the brand will be offered with two battery pack options—49 kWh and 60 kWh—and offer a range of up to 400 km. It will start around Rs 22 lakh.
Toyota Urban Electric SUV
Based on the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, Toyota will also be launching its own electric SUV. Underneath the surface, both SUVs will boast the same electric powertrain. However, Toyota will give its SUV a completely new exterior design.
Mahindra BE 6
Presently, Mahindra has launched the BE 6 electric SUV; however, it has only revealed its base variant’s price, which is Rs 18.9 lakh. Next year, the company will reveal the complete variant and pricing details of this highly anticipated electric SUV. It will come with two battery pack options—78 kWh and 59 kWh—offering ranges of 682 km and 656 km. As for the real-life range, it will be more than 500 km.
Kia Syros
Kia recently unveiled its new sub-compact SUV, the Syros, in India. This tall-boy SUV will sit between the Seltos and the Sonet, and it is aimed at modern family buyers. Its complete pricing details will be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo. It will come equipped with two engine options—a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
MG Astor Facelift
MG will also be launching the Astor facelift next year. The current-generation Astor has been out for a long time, and it is due for a facelift. The new model is expected to get redesigned headlights, front bumper, taillights, and rear bumper, along with a set of new alloy wheels. Powertrain options will most likely remain the same.
Tata Harrier EV
Next year, Tata Motors will be launching a number of new SUVs, and among these, the first will be the Harrier EV. The electric iteration of the Harrier will be offered with a 60–80 kWh battery pack, offering a real-world range of around 500 km. As for the pricing, it will start around Rs 30 lakh. It is expected to make its official debut at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo on 17th January.
Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors is all set to revive the Sierra badge with the launch of the Sierra EV. This Creta-rivaling SUV, which will measure around 4.3m, will be offered with the same powertrain setup as the Harrier and Safari EVs. In terms of design, it will offer a very butch appearance with a boxy exterior and a minimalistic interior. It will be feature-loaded as well.
Tata Sierra ICE
Following the launch of the Sierra EV, later in the year, Tata Motors will officially launch the ICE variants of the Sierra as well. It will most likely be offered with Tata’s new 1.5-litre TGDi engine and its time-tested diesel engine. The design will be similar to the EV, but there will be some noticeable differences.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift
The Taigun is one of Volkswagen’s most successful products in India, and to keep it fresh, the company is planning to launch its facelift next year. It will come equipped with a new front fascia, bumper, and new LED taillights. It will also be offered with a panoramic sunroof, ADAS Level 2, and a 360-degree camera, along with other features.
Renault Duster
Expected to make its official debut around the middle of next year, Renault will finally be launching the newest generation of the Duster in India. This SUV will now boast a modern exterior and will come loaded with creature comforts. It is expected to start from Rs 10–15 lakh and take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and others.
Nissan Terrano
Nissan will also utilize the same underpinnings as the Renault Duster and relaunch the Terrano in India. It will look slightly different from the Duster but will be offered with the same powertrain options and features.
