Upcoming Kia Clavis Compact SUV: What It’ll Look Like

The South Korean carmaker Kia is relentlessly working on the development of the new Clavis/Syros SUV in India. This particular compact SUV has been spotted testing on numerous occasions in the country. Recently, a few rendered images of what this vehicle could look like have been shared online. This highly anticipated SUV will be offered in both ICE and EV guises.

Kia Clavis: What it could look like!

The recently shared rendered images of the Kia Clavis/Syros show the exterior design of this upcoming SUV. It can be noted that the front of this vehicle will boast a closed-off grille, which is very common with electric vehicles. However, we can note that in this render, there are two distinct cut-outs.

One of them is most likely the charging port of the vehicle. However, the purpose of the other one is currently unknown. Apart from this, we can note that the headlight units have a boomerang shape, which ties them in with the current generation Seltos, Sonet, and the upcoming Carnival premium MPV.

Apart from this, the front bumper has a rugged appeal. There is also a sporty-looking silver skid plate on the bottom of the front bumper. The clamshell-style bonnet adds an additional layer of uniqueness. Moving to the side profile, the Clavis continues its design language with squared-off wheel arches, thick body cladding, and aerodynamic low-drag alloy wheels.

The vehicle’s body-coloured door handles and dual-tone ORVMs (outside rear-view mirrors) add to the classy appearance. The ORVMs can also be seen equipped with integrated cameras, highlighting the presence of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), like a 360-degree surround view and blind view monitoring.

Roof rails and other rugged elements add to the sporty feel of this SUV. As for the rear, the SUV gets a roof spoiler and shark fin antenna. There is also the addition of a high-mounted stop lamp and a rear wiper and washer. The rear bumper also looks bold with the presence of a silver skid plate at the bottom.

Kia Clavis: Interior Design

The upcoming Kia Clavis will boast a very modern design for the dashboard. It will also feature dual-tone leatherette upholstery. At the centre of the dashboard will be dual 10.25-inch screens, one for infotainment and the other for digital instrumentation.

It could also come with dual-zone climate control, powered front and rear seats, which could possibly also come with ventilation options. The top-end variants of the Clavis are likely to offer a panoramic sunroof.

As mentioned above, the Clavis could also come equipped with ADAS features. Its ADAS suite could include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward-collision warning systems, along with a few others. A 360-degree camera is also a very likely feature to be included in the list.

Kia Clavis: Powertrain Options

Now, coming to the powertrain options of the Kia Clavis, it has been reported that it will come equipped with both ICE and EV powertrain options. The ICE variant is expected to launch first, featuring a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Both of these engines have been borrowed from the popular Kia Sonet. Meanwhile, the electric version of the Clavis will debut later. It is expected to be launched around mid-2025. It is anticipated to come with a certified range of approximately 350 km.

Although real-world figures may vary between 270 km and 300 km depending on driving conditions, the EV variant will support fast charging and feature advanced regenerative braking, which will help extend the vehicle’s range.
