Volkswagen India Releases AI-Powered Merry Christmas Ad Starring Virtus [Video]

Artificial Intelligence can be considered one of the most important revolutions in terms of technology in the last few decades. Most people today are using AI to make their lives easier by delegating their tasks to various apps and AI-powered websites. Recently, the German automotive giant Volkswagen has also utilized AI to create a unique television commercial celebrating the awaited festival of Christmas. In this AI-powered ad, Santa Claus can be seen driving a Volkswagen Virtus GT.

Volkswagen’s AI-powered Advertisement

This distinct advertisement, created with the use of artificial intelligence, has been shared on YouTube by Volkswagen India on their channel. It starts off with a fully decorated Christmas tree in the living room of a house. It also shows that there are some milk and cookies on the table. Soon after, we can see Santa Claus riding his sleigh with the help of his reindeer.

Following this, what happens is that during the night, Santa comes down to the road and notices a red Volkswagen Virtus GT parked. He then moves closer to it and starts checking out this beautiful-looking sedan finished in red. After this, he takes a seat inside the sedan and feels the premium materials used in the cabin.

Next, instead of delivering the gifts to the houses, Santa Claus cannot resist taking the Virtus GT on a drive. The video then shows him taking the sedan for a drive across the town. We can note that he is enjoying this drive, and at one point, the video shows the gift bag of Santa Claus on the rear seat of the car.

After this, the video shows a kid who has recently woken up and gone down to the living room. He goes there to check the gifts that Santa Claus was supposed to leave under the Christmas tree. However, as there are no gifts, he becomes very sad. Then, the doorbell of the house rings, and the kid rushes towards it. Finally, he finds a gift left by Santa Claus.

To many people, this advertisement by Volkswagen may not seem very significant. They may think that it is just another ad by the company to promote their product during a popular holiday. However, it is important to note that this entire video has been created without using any physical Volkswagen Virtus or any actors.

This means that in the future, automakers, along with other brands, can produce meaningful content without paying huge production costs. Such ads will help automakers reduce their overall expenditure on marketing. Most likely, other automakers will also start creating many such AI-powered advertisements for their cars, bikes, and other products.

Volkswagen Virtus

As for the car seen in the video, it is the Volkswagen Virtus. This sedan currently starts at Rs 11.56 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 19.40 lakh. It comes offered with two engine options: the first is a 1.0-litre TSI petrol motor, which makes 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the second engine option is a 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine, which produces 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

The company is currently working on the facelift of the Virtus. Most likely, it will be launched next year. Reportedly, it will come equipped with new front and rear bumpers, and there will also be ADAS Level 2 on offer. It will most likely also get a panoramic sunroof as well.
