Earlier this year in March, Volkswagen unveiled the Taigun GT Plus Sport variant. On the sidelines of this unveiling, the company also showcased the Virtus GT Plus Sport variant. Now, months later, this new model has finally started arriving at dealerships. Recently, a few pictures showing the new Virtus GT Plus Sport variant at a dealership have been shared online, suggesting that the model will be launched just ahead of the festive season.
Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport: What’s New?
In these images, the Virtus GT Plus Sport variant is finished in a lovely blue color. Now, coming to the changes noted on this new variant that will be launched soon, the first thing we notice is that the front grille has been blacked out. Also, the GT badge is now finished in a sporty red color.
Apart from this, the lower air dam section of the Virtus GT Plus Sport has been given a blacked-out treatment as well. The company has utilized gloss black and removed all the chrome that the standard models get. This adds to the sporty appearance of the model.
Moving on to the side profile, the Virtus GT Plus Sport looks exactly the same as the standard model. However, there are a few touches like black color on the 16-inch alloy wheels. Also, the brake calipers have been finished in red. Lastly, the ORVMs get a high-gloss black finish as well.
As for the rear-end design, the main highlight of the Virtus GT Plus Sport is the completely blacked-out LED taillights. The sedan also gets a similar high-gloss black treatment on the lower bumper, a black spoiler, a black shark fin antenna, and black “Virtus” lettering on the bootlid.
Virtus GT Plus Sport Interior
Now, coming to the interior updates of the Virtus GT Plus Sport variant, the new sedan will ditch the black-and-beige interior color scheme for an all-black interior. Its steering wheel will get red accents and stitching. Also, the leatherette seats will boast the same black-and-red color theme.
As for the features list, it will remain the same as the standard model. The Virtus GT Plus Sport will come with the same 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, single-pane electric sunroof, 8-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, and cruise control. It will also get a wireless phone charger and ventilated front seats.
Virtus GT Plus Sport Powertrain
As the Virtus GT Plus Sport variant is based on the GT variant, it will be offered with the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. This four-cylinder motor is capable of producing 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
When Will the Virtus GT Plus Sport Launch?
At the moment, the exact launch date for the Virtus GT Plus Sport has not been revealed. However, it is believed that the company could be launching it in the next few weeks, just before the Diwali festivities begin. During this time, car sales increase, and it will help the brand sell more units of this newly launched model.
Once launched, the Virtus GT Plus Sport will take on other popular mid-size sedan models in the country, including the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna. It will also take on its cousin, the Skoda Slavia. As for pricing, it could command a premium over the standard Virtus GT variant, which is priced at Rs 19.41 lakh.
