Volkswagen India has rejigged the Virtus lineup with the introduction of two new variants- the GT Plus Sport and GT Line. The other variants have been updated as well. The newly launched Virtus GT Line is priced at 14.07 lakh ex-showroom while the GT Plus Sport has an ex-showroom price of 17.84 lakh.
Virtus GT Line And GT Plus Sport: What Are They?
The Virtus GT Line comes equipped with the 1.0L TSI engine and is available with both automatic and manual transmission options. This engine is capable of generating 113 hp and 178 Nm. It is offered with the choice of manual and torque converter automatic gearboxes.
The cabin now gets Black leatherette upholstery, a dashboard with Gloss Black accents, Aluminium pedals, a Black headliner and GT badging on the front seat headrests. There is also a sports steering wheel with Red stitching and Blacked-out door handles, roof lamp housing and sun visors.
The GT Line now includes features like an electric sunroof, a 20.32 cm Digital Cockpit, and a 25.65 cm VW Play Touchscreen infotainment system, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The exterior design highlights are blackened LED headlamps, a black front grille, and 16-inch R16 ‘Razor’ black alloy wheels.
The GT Plus Sport variants, fitted with a 1.5L TSI EVO petrol engine, are significantly more powerful. This engine produces 150 hp and 250 Nm and is available with a DSG gearbox. It now has more features. There is a larger 25.65 cm infotainment system with an amplifier and subwoofer, Electric Front Seat adjustments, Ventilated front seats, and design enhancements like a Red front GT logo, blackened LED headlamps, and a sporty dual-tone roof. Six airbags are offered as standard, to ensure safety on both the Taigun and Virtus.
Enhancements To The Taigun And New Highline Plus Variants
Volkswagen has also upgraded the equipment list of the Taigun GT Line, adding a 20.32 cm Digital Cockpit and an Electric Sunroof to the vehicle. Additionally, the manufacturer has introduced the new Highline Plus variant for both the Taigun and Virtus, powered by the 1.0L TSI petrol engine. The Virtus Highline Plus is priced from INR 13.87 lakh (MT) (ex-showroom).
Diversifying Personae And Customer Appeal
Volkswagen now offers distinct design personas through its Chrome and Sport structures, allowing buyers to choose between sophisticated or sporty aesthetics for their vehicles. The ‘Topline’ variants of VW Taigun and Virtus now come with a Digital sound package, including an amplifier and subwoofer, as standard.

He highlighted the success of the Virtus and its new iterations, reaffirming Volkswagen’s commitment to offering stylish, feature-rich, and performance-oriented vehicles in the Indian market.
With the launch of the Virtus GT Line, GT Plus Sport, and the feature rejigs to other models, Volkswagen has further solidified its stance in the respective spaces. The sales of these vehicles are expected to go further up with these in place.
Virtus And Taigun: India 2.0 Products
Both the Virtus and Taigun are products of Volkwagen’s India 2.0 program. Both these vehicles are based on a heavily localised version of VW’s MQB platform which is known by the name ‘ MQB A0 IN’. The same platform underpins the Skoda Kushaq, Slavia and the upcoming Kylaq as well. Both Virtus and Taigun have been successful in sales, for Volkswagen.
