According to a mandate by the government of India, all cars sold in the country now come with equipped at least a driver-side airbag. The benefit of having airbags in cars is massive as they can create a difference between life and death in case of an accident. While all cars now have at least one airbag on offer, some of the manufacturers have taken a step forward in safety and are offering 6 or more than 6 airbags on the top variants of their cars. Ford Figo

Price starts from Rs. 6.65 lakh

The Figo is the most affordable car by Ford in India and the cheapest vehicle here that comes equipped with six airbags. A rival to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 among others, the Figo comes with six airbags only with the top-end Blu variant. The Figo is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options and is known for its powerful diesel engine.

Ford Freestyle

Price starts from Rs. 7.46 lakh

Simply put, the Ford Freestyle is a beefed-up version of the Figo with a crossover flair. Like other Ford vehicles here, the Freestyle also comes equipped with 6 airbags. The hatchback also comes with ABS and EBD, traction control system and electronic stability programme. However, only the Titanium Plus variants come equipped with 6 airbags while 2 airbags are standard across the variant lineup.

Ford Aspire

Price starts from Rs. 7.72 lakh

The Ford Aspire is the sedan version of the Figo hatchback and also comes equipped with six airbags version in India. The Figo Aspire is currently the only sub-4-meter compact sedan in the country to have six airbags as an option. The car gets six airbags only with the top-end Titanium Plus variant though, which starts at Rs. 7.72 lakh for the petrol-powered models.

Hyundai Elite i20

Price starts at Rs. 8.07 lakh

Next up is the Hyundai Elite 20, a car that has been one of the best selling car by the Korean manufacturer in India. The older gen i20 was also one of the first cars to come with 6-airbag package in the segment. The 6 airbags are available with both petrol and diesel engine options in India, though only on the top-end Asta variant.

Hyundai i20 Active

Price starts at Rs. 8.56 lakh

The i20 Active is the crossover version of the Elite i20. Like the car it is based on, the i20 Active comes with six airbags. They are only available on the range-topping Asta variants, prices for which start from Rs. 8.56 lakh. The i20 Active is offered with 1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine and a1.4 L diesel engine.

Hyundai Venue

Price starts at Rs. 10.60 lakh

The Hyundai Venue is the newest addition to the growing band of sub-4 meter SUVs in India. Though not many months may have passed since its launch, the Venue has already bagged the second best selling vehicle in its segment and was only a couple of hundred units behind the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It comes with a ton of features including a few segment-first features as well. Hyundai has equipped the car with 6 airbags, though they are only available from SX 1.0(O) variant onwards.

Ford EcoSport

Ford recently updated the Ecosport lineup in India to efficiently compete with the new rivals in the sub-4-meter segment. One of the first vehicles of this segment, the Ecosport comes equipped with 6 airbags and for long was the only vehicle in its segment to offer as many as six airbags. It gets 2 airbags as standard while six  airbags are offered from the Titanium Plus variant onwards.

Mahindra XUV300

Price starts at Rs. 11.64 lakh

The Mahindra XUV300 is currently the safest sub-4 meter SUV you can buy in India. Launched a couple of months back, the XUV300 has been doing well in terms of sales, though the recent slowdown coupled with the onslaught from new competitors has pushed it back. The stylish XUV300 comes equipped with as many as 7 airbags. Like several other cars here, only the top-end variants starting from the W8(O) are offered with this option while the rest of the variants get 2 airbags as standard.

Hyundai Verna

Price starts at Rs. 8.08 lakh

Hyundai offers six-airbags as optional equipment throughout its range above the Elite i20 in India. The stylish Verna also comes with six airbags but only fro the SX(O) variant onwards. The Hyundai Verna is quite popular in the Indian market and rivals the likes of the Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz among others in the segment.

Toyota Yaris

Price starts at Rs. 9.29 lakh

The Toyota Yaris is the only car in is segment and several segments above to come with 7 airbags as standard. Toyota offers 7 airbags from the base J MT variant of the sedan which is priced at Rs. 9.29 lakh. The Yaris in India comes equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and is quite a good package but sadly, it has turned out to be a dud seller for the company.
