Despite the pandemic, a lot of manufacturers launched their vehicles in our country. Some of them have also been quite successful for the manufacturers and have helped them in some way or other. These vehicles are also selling in good numbers. Today, we list down 6 cars that became huge successes.

Tata Safari

Tata launched the Safari earlier this year. It was a huge gamble for Tata to bring back the Safari nameplate that too without all-wheel-drive and without ladder frame chassis. The homegrown manufacturer did face some backlash at first for this. But Safari and Harrier combined helped Tata Motors capturing more than 40 percent share of the segment. So, we can say that Safari is doing pretty well in the Indian market.

Kia Sonet

Kia launched the Sonet last year and its concept form already had created a lot of hype at the Auto Expo 2020. So, it was bound to happen that Sonet would gather a good amount of sales. The Sonet is one of the most successful compact SUVs in the Indian market. It is giving very stiff competition to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue. The Sonet was even able to snatch away the pole position from the Vitara Brezza when it was first launched.

Mahindra Thar

We can call the Thar, the biggest success of 2020. As of now, it does not even have a direct competitor. The sales numbers might not seem huge when compared to other SUVs but Mahindra itself was not expecting even these numbers. The demand for the Thar is so high that at one point the waiting period of Thar crossed 12 months. It is very rare that the demand for a vehicle gets so strong.

Hyundai Alcazar

The Creta was the biggest seller for Hyundai for a long time. It has also dominated the mid-size SUV segment for quite some time. So, it made sense for Hyundai to launch a 7-seater version of the Creta. They call it the Alcazar and the new SUV was launched recently. The Alcazar is already outselling the competition in such a short span of time. Unlike other manufacturers, Alcazar does not have a base variant. This means that even the lower variant comes loaded with features. The Alcazar is priced between the Creta and the Tucson. Hyundai says that the Alcazar is aimed towards people who are looking to upgrade from the Creta.

Renault Kiger

Renault launched the Kiger compact SUV in February’21. It was priced very aggressively and also came with a decent feature list. The highlight of Kiger was its design which is quite different from the rivals and its price. The Kiger is one of the most affordable compact SUVs that you can buy in the Indian market. It has already helped Renault in increasing the sales significantly.

Nissan Magnite

The Magnite was launched last year and it is the best selling vehicle that Nissan has in its portfolio. The reason why Magnite is selling so well is that people want to buy a compact SUV but are on a budget. This is where Magnite comes into the picture, it is the most affordable compact SUV that you can buy. So, people can now buy a Magnite instead of a hatchback.
