May and June will be power packed months for car and SUV launches, just ahead of the festive season. Here are five cars and SUVs you can look forward to during these months.
Toyota Innova Crysta
The Toyota Innova is moving a generation ahead, and the new MPV is called the Crysta. The Crysta promises more power and torque from fuel efficient turbo diesel engines, a lighter chassis, a boat load of features, and of course, an upgraded safety feature list. The MPV will be launched in India on the 3rd of May, and is expected to be priced about 10 % more than the outgoing Innova. It’ll get 7 and 8 seat variants. A petrol powered version is also on the cards for launch later in the year.
Honda burnt their fingers with the Mobilio 7 seater MPV. The Japanese automaker will take another stab at 7 seat vehicles, but this time in an SUV package. The BR-V will offer seven seats, but will compete with the likes of the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta. The compact SUV will offer 1.5 liter petrol and turbo diesel engine options. Manual gearboxes will be standard on both engines while a CVT automatic option is expected to be offered on the petrol powered version. The BR-V will be launched on the 5th of May.
The Hexa has been around in concept form for more than a year, and it’s finally time for Tata Motors to put it on the road. A launch is expected to happen in May-June 2016, and the Hexa is an Aria replacement. The vehicle will continue to use a ladder frame chassis but will get a more powerful turbo diesel engine. 6 speed manual and automatic gearboxes will be the other changes. A Land Rover-esque terrain response system is another feature to look forward to on this crossover, which will get top quality interiors and a big list of features.
Nissan has already unveiled its most ambitious product for India’s entry-level hatchback market – the Datsun Redi-GO. The only things left are the price announcements and , which will happen in May 2016, followed by the cars hitting roads on the 1st of June. The Redi-GO is said to be lighter than even the Renault Kwid, which is already the lightest car in the country. Expect peppy performance, and great fuel efficiency from the Redi-GO. The car will sit under the Kwid in terms of price and positioning. Expect prices to start from under 2.5 lakh rupees.
Isuzu D-Max V-Cross
Isuzu India is making a mark on the commercial pick up truck mark, and the Japanese utility vehicle now wants to shift gears, and enter the lifestyle pick up truck segment. To do this, Isuzu has lined up the V-Cross version of the D-Max. The V-Cross variant features a twin cab that can seat five.
Fit and finish has been jacked up for passenger car levels while the safety feature list has been upped to include airbags and ABS. The V-Cross will continue to use the 2.5 liter turbo diesel motor with 134 Bhp-320 Nm. A 5 speed manual gearbox, and a four wheel drive layout will come standard. Prices are likely to start from 15 lakh rupees.
