Chevrolet Enjoy MPV to be launched at the end of 2012!

Chevrolet will launch the Enjoy MPV during the end of 2012, contrary to earlier speculations of a June 2012 launch.

The Enjoy will be the first product in India to be launched from the GM-SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) partnership.

“We are exclusively announcing the MPV’s name in Chennai. It is Enjoy. We will be introducing it by end of this year,” Lowell C Paddock, President and Managing Director, General Motors (GM) India was quoted as saying by a news agency.

Chevrolet showcased a MPV concept at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.  To be known as the Enjoy, the upcoming Chevrolet MPV is a proper 7-seater, but is much more compact than the Chevrolet Tavera and would challenge the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga to be launched in April 2012. GM has played safe by keeping the looks of the MPV Concept neat and simple. The simplicity begins with the smiling chrome grille, minimalistic lines on the sides and a practical boot design with conventional tail lamps.

Though interiors of the Enjoy are yet to be seen, we expect it to have an attractive instrument cluster and a spacious cabin for seven passengers plus some luggage space at the rear. The Enjoy MPV will come with a 1.4-litre petrol motor that puts out 96 bhp of power and 128 Nm of torque. The Enjoy diesel will be powered by 1.3-litre XSDE motor which is GM’s version of the Fiat 1.3-litre Multijet engine.

Pricing will be a key factor in determining the success of Chevrolet Enjoy in the market. We expect prices of the Enjoy to be between Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 8 lakh. GM may gauge the success of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and thereby launch the Enjoy with added features at competitive price.
