Chevrolet Sail premium hatchback video review at Auto Expo 2012

General Motors unveiled Sail hatchback which will replace U-VA at the Auto Expo 2012. The Sail is a lot more stylish than the outgoing U-VA and therefore, is better equipped to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 in the premium hatchback segment.

Chevrolet Sail Video Review

The refreshed interiors are spacious and can comfortably seat five adults. The fuel tank is positioned in the middle of the car and hence, it frees more space inside. Expect good number of storage spaces as well.

The Sail will get the Smartech engines from the Chevrolet’s lineup in India. Expect the 1.2-litre petrol motor from the Chevrolet Beat which puts out 79.5 bhp of power and GM’s version of Fiat’s 1.3-litre Multijet engine that powers the Fiat Punto, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Tata Vista.

Overall, the new Sail is much-improved package when compared with U-VA. But does it really have enough to stand apart in tough segment? Only time—and perhaps price—will tell.
