The upcoming Spark will likely have a refurbished front that includes a bowtie grille as seen on the Beat and Cruze, a new headlamp cluster with clear lens turn indicators (unlike the orange turn indicators in the present model) and new pair of fog lamps.
The front facelift changes gives the car, a contemporary look and somehow manages to hide the car’s ageing design. The interiors of the upcoming Spark can be expected to have mild cosmetic updates.
Contrary to earlier speculations that the Spark may get 800 cc engine, the upcoming Spark is only a cosmetic upgrade and hence the mechanicals such as engine, suspension, brakes, transmission will be retained as in the present Spark. The Spark is powered by a 1-litre petrol motor that puts out 63 Bhp of power and returns a claimed mileage of 18.29 Kmpl.
The Spark facelift may be priced marginally higher than the current price range of Rs. 3.14 lakh – Rs. 3.97 lakh. The Spark facelift will have to face stiff competition in the form of Hyundai Eon and Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming Alto/800 replacement to be launched by the end of 2012.
