Citroën, the renowned French automaker, is entering the highly competitive Mid-size SUV segment in India with its C3 AirCross. The car will compete with popular players such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate etc. Bookings for the C3 AirCross are scheduled to commence in September, with deliveries anticipated to commence in October. While the exact price of the vehicle remains undisclosed, Citroën is expected to reveal it upon opening the bookings.
Citroen has planned to launch the car with only one engine option and only a manual transmission. However, an automatic transmission is expected at a later date. Powering the car is an 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The high end trim which is the Max variant will be available in both 5 and 7 seat versions giving it a little edge over its 5 seater competitors. The ARAI certified mileage figures for the car are also out, the 1.2L Turbo petrol engine will return a fuel efficiency of 18.5 KM/L.
The car will be launched with only one variant which is the Max. Here’s a list of the key features it’ll offer:

Our thoughts…
The Mid-sized SUV segment in India is already very crowded. The USP of the Citroen C3 AirCross is the 5 and 7 seat configuration, the customer can choose as per their need. Also, Citroen has learnt from the past mistakes and added a lot of things in the C3 AirCross which were missing in its hatchback sibling, the C3.
However, the C3 AirCross misses out on a lot of features such as Panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, LED headlamps, powered driver’s seat adjustment and safety features like six airbags. These features are offered by the competition in the same segment which makes the Citroen C3 AirCross a not so valuable option. Citroen has to price the C3 AirCross very effectively to get some share of the market.
