It’s safe to say that the midsize SUV segment is currently the hottest space in the Indian auto industry. With the recent high-profile launch of the Kia Seltos facelift and the upcoming unveiling of the Honda Elevate, scheduled for September 2023, the all-new Citroen C3 Aircross is also ready to make its mark in the Indian car market. Citroen has recently unveiled some of the key details about the C3 Aircross, including its fuel efficiency, making it one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in its category.

The Citroen C3 Aircross will come equipped with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain, already available in the smaller C3 hatchback, delivers a confident performance with 110 bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Citroen C3 Aircross claims an impressive ARAI-claimed fuel economy figure of 18.5 kmpl.

With this figure, the Citroen C3 Aircross stands second only to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Both these SUVs, equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, boast a segment-best fuel efficiency of 21.12 kmpl.
Compared to its rivals, the turbo-petrol engine of the C3 Aircross outperforms the fuel efficiency of the 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine found in the Hyundai Creta (16.85 kmpl) and the Kia Seltos (17.35 kmpl). It is also more fuel-efficient than the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine of the Skoda Kushaq (16.83 kmpl) and Taigun (18.23 kmpl). The Honda Elevate ranks as the least fuel-efficient among the lot, with its 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine offering 16.11 kmpl.
Will be available in 5 and 7 seater option
The Citroen C3 Aircross will be available in both five and seven-seater configurations and will come with four customization packs. The SUV will be equipped with features such as a 7-inch digital instrument console, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, hill hold assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. However, it will be the least-equipped SUV in its category, lacking some popular features like a sunroof, automatic climate control, push start-stop button, among others.
Citroen has announced that bookings for the C3 Aircross will commence in September, and deliveries are set to begin in October 2023, just in time for the festive season.
In addition to its impressive fuel efficiency, Citroen has also equipped the C3 Aircross with several attractive exterior features. These include stylish body cladding and wheel arch mouldings, front and rear silver skid plates, lift-type door handles, roof rails, and 17-inch machined alloy wheels. The C3 Aircross offers ample storage space, with the five-seater version boasting a generous boot space of 444 litres. For those opting for the 5+2 seating version, there are two small seats in the third row. By folding down the third-row seats, the boot space expands to a spacious 511 litres, providing plenty of room for all your luggage and belongings.
