Citroen has recently unveiled its new midsize SUV, the C3 Aircross, which will be positioned above the C3 hatchback in the Indian market. The new SUV will be available in two seating configurations – five-seater and seven-seater and will be offered as a petrol-only vehicle with 90% localization. It is expected to go on sale in the coming months.
The C3 Aircross is based on the company’s CMP platform, which is also used for the smaller C3 hatchback. However, the new SUV will have larger dimensions, with a length of almost 4.3 metres, a wheelbase of 2,671mm, and a ground clearance of 200mm. The SUV sports a boxy design language, with signature split Y-themed daytime-running LEDs and halogen headlamps at the front, and C-shaped LED tail lamps at the rear.
Inside, the C3 Aircross features a simple and elegant design, with a dual-tone black and beige theme, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a full-TFT instrument console. It also has a few other features such as leatherette upholstery, powered rear-view mirrors, and roof-mounted AC vents for rear passengers. However, it misses out on features like a sunroof, wireless charging, and ventilated seats.

Comes only with 1.2-litre turbo-petrol
The only engine option available for the C3 Aircross is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 110 bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, and there is no automatic transmission option available at present. Citroen has confirmed that a fully-electric version of the C3 Aircross is also in the works.
Citroen has also provided the C3 Aircross with some exterior features such as body cladding and wheel arch mouldings, front and rear silver skid plates, lift-type door handles, roof rails, and 17-inch machined alloy wheels. The five-seater version claims a boot space of 444 litres, while the 5+2 seating version has two small seats attached in the third row, and with the third row flat, the boot space is 511 litres.
