Citroen C3 electric hatchback car to launch in December

Just a few days ago, the Stellantis-owned French automotive manufacturer Citroen launched its newest hatchback the C3 in the nation with aggressive pricing. And so far it seems to be doing pretty good but recently a leaked report on the internet has revealed that the company is planning to shake up the nation again. According to sources, it has been revealed that Citroen is planning to launch an all-electric vehicle based on the C3 in December of this year.

Currently, it is believed that the French carmaker’s EV debut will take place in December and the commencement of its sale will take place in April of 2023. Reports have claimed that the all-electric iteration of the C3 hatchback will be receiving a single electric motor for propulsion along with a decent range of 300km on a single charge. Furthermore, the electric hatchback will be based on the modular CMP platform and has already undergone extensive localization to offer competitive pricing against ICE models.

According to reports, the electric C3 could also be more well-equipped than its ICE equivalent, which is deficient in amenities like cruise control, wireless phone charging, and automated climate control. It’s expected that the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system will also be offered in the electrified model. As for the price of this forthcoming EV, it is anticipated that it will cost somewhere in the range of Rs 13 lakh and will directly compete with Tata Tigor EV and the upcoming small EV from the British automaker MG.

The Citroen C5 Aircross and the C3 are the only two products that Citroen currently offers in India. And most recently, the company started shipping its recently introduced C3 across the country. The base variant of the Citroen C3 has a starting price of Rs 5.7 lakh, while the top-of-the-line, fully-loaded version is priced at Rs 8.05 lakh. Additionally, the company emphasized that this pricing is introductory and would be changed later. 19 cities, including major ones like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, offer the new model. However, the brand’s online portal will make the automobile accessible in more than 90 places.

The exterior of the new C3 is a breeze of fresh air in terms of design with unique highlights, dual V-shaped daytime running LEDs and chrome accents across the front grille. Meanwhile, on the inside, it gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel with music and Bluetooth controls, and a completely digital instrument dashboard.

It gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and reverse parking sensors as standard safety equipment. Meanwhile, the vehicle’s drivetrain options include two 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engines. The first is a naturally aspirated 82 PS variant with a 5-speed manual transmission. Then there’s the turbocharged 110 PS model, which comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. Automatic transmission-equipped models will not be available at launch, although they may be added later.
