Citroen C5 Aircross SUV’s production begins in India

Citroen has just rolled out their first batch of C5 Aircross for India. The manufacturing facility of Citroen is located in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The C5 Aircross will be the first product for the Indian market. The manufacturer says that they have tested the C5 for 2.50 lakh kilometres across different climatic conditions and terrains. The SUV will be officially revealed on February 1st. It will be competing against the likes of MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier. However, being a CKD or Completely Knocked Down unit, the SUV will be priced around Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass mark.

Citroen C5 Aircross will come with Progressive Hydraulic Cushion equipped suspension system that is developed by Citroen themselves. It will also get comfort seats with memory foam and 3 individually adjustable, reclining whereas the rear seats will be able to fold flat which will open a lot of space for the boot. The top-end variant will get a panoramic sunroof that will allow in a lot of light and airier feel to the cabin and it will also get a foot-operated electric tailgate. The NVH or Noise Vibration and Harshness levels should be one of the best in the segment considering that Citroen is using acoustic windscreen & front window glasses. There will be other features like Grip Control system with multiple drive modes, push button to start/stop, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Blind spot monitoring and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Phone mirroring and Apple CarPlay. The C5 will also come with the park assist feature which will help you with parking the SUV. The C5 Aircross will be able to steer itself and you will only have to accelerate and brake.

Powering the new SUV will be a 2.0-litre diesel engine that is expected to produce 177 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 400 Nm. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The automatic gearbox will also feature Shift and Park by wire control. The manufacturer has already integrated their first showroom based on “La Maison Citroen” concept that was showcased at Paris in 2017. The “La Maison Citroen” stands for “Home of Citroen”. The showroom is located at Sarkhej – Gandhinagar Highway, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Citroen is working on expanding the dealership network to 10 cities across India.
