Citroen eC3 electric hatch spied at a charging station next to a Tata Nexon EV!

Just a few days ago, the French automaker Citroen revealed that its upcoming all-electric hatchback based on the outgoing C3 will be called the eC3. The model according to Stellantis’ worldwide CEO Carlos Tavares, “will be released early next year,”. And as 2022 is approaching its end, the eC3s launch date is coming near and we have started seeing the test mules of this tiny hatchback across the country.

Recently a completely undisguised eC3 was spotted charging at a Zeon Charging public electric vehicle charging station. From the image, we can note that the vehicle was a base variant of the model and its rear was visible quite clearly. The test mule was seen with the charger attached to the front right fender, which in a previous spy shot was covered with camouflage. Another image of the charging station’s screen was shared which showed that the vehicle took around 45 minutes to charge to 83 percent. It is believed that this was possible due to the use of a fast charger.

Other than that we can note that the eC3 does not look a whole lot different from the ICE C3 and will retain almost all everything except the powertrain from the outgoing hatchback. According to previous reports, the could come equipped with a 30.2 kWh battery that would power a single electric motor. Reportedly it will produce around 84 BHP and 143 Nm of torque. The eC3’s battery pack is intended to provide a slightly longer range than the Tiago EV, which can go over 315 kilometers on a single charge and will be its direct rival.

In other Citroen news, it was recently revealed that Citroen is also in the middle of the development of a seven-seater small SUV. This brand-new compact SUV, which will be built on the CMP modular platform, will compete with vehicles like the Renault Triber and more economical versions of the wildly successful Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens, according to a report on AutoEsporte. It will reportedly also be available in a five-seater version.

This impending SUV has been spotted several times around the nation over the previous few months. Reportedly it has been seen in  Pune, Manali, and a few more place. According to sources, Citroen has given the SUV the codename CC24. It previously gave its C3 hatchback the codename CC21 when it was in the development stage, and another sedan that is presently being tested and that may go on sale in 2024 has the codename CC26. Currently this SUV is commonly dubbed as the C3 Aircross.

As mentioned above, Citroen’s CMP modular platform, which is also used to construct the C3 hatchback, will serve as the basis for the C3 SUV. The SUV version’s wheelbase will be extended by Citroen, making it somewhat longer than the C3’s 2.54 metres. It will be quite close to 2.62 metres. The length should be close to 4.40 metres, the same as the Jeep Compass. And in order to keep the price affordable, Citroen is said to take components from the C3 hatchback and use them in this SUV.
