People driving or riding bikes on the road need to be careful about their surroundings. This is for their own safety as well as the safety of other road users. We have also seen people getting too impatient at traffic signals and railway crossings. Skipping this has often led to accidents, and we have featured the same on our website too. Here we have an incident where a Maruti Swift narrowly escapes after getting stuck between a train and a shut railway gate.
Now that's what we call a close escape π
Also, A part of me wanted the train to give atleast some damage to the car, it would have been a great lesson to the stupid car owner.#indianrailways pic.twitter.com/A5ODUW4Uhh

The video has been circulating on the internet for the last few days. The exact location of this incident is not known; however, the car seen here is registered in Uttar Pradesh. The car in the video is a Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback. The car probably got caught between the gates when they closed. The driver might have rushed to get to the other side of the track when he saw the gates closing. He managed to get in before the gates closed; however, he could not get to the other side before the gate closed. This put him in a very difficult situation. The car cannot pass through the gate as it is closed. Most railway gates in India are now automatic, which means they can only be opened after the train has passed, and the signal has turned red on the track.
As the locomotive was too close to the gate, the signal was green for the train, and the pilot had no choice but to move forward. The Maruti Swift driver parked the car very close to the gate to ensure that the train didn’t hit the car. The train engine started moving forward, as seen in the video; there was literally no gap left between the car and the train. The train slowly passes through the track while the car is parked next to it. One of the comments under this video mentions that the locomotive had stopped right before the railway gate, and the locopilot, along with the people present at the spot, came up with this idea to avoid the car from getting destroyed.
The person who posted this video wrote, “Now that’s what we call a close escape. Also, a part of me wanted the train to give at least some damage to the car; it would have been a great lesson to the stupid car owner.” Other users wrote comments like, “Train & car driver both deserve an Oscar,” “How and why did the LP go past is my question… he is not supposed to do so! The Loco should have stopped a distance away, recorded the details, and an FIR launched by authorities!” Another user wrote, “UP hai bhaiya.. kuch bhi ho sakta hai!! (This is UP Brother… anything can happen here).” Many users wanted authorities to take action for such irresponsible behavior. What do we learn from this video? If you see the railway gates closing in front, do not rush. Wait until the gate opens. This careless behavior by the Swift driver wasted the time of many other road users who were waiting for the train to cross on both sides of the railway gates. If you see a level crossing without gates, stop, look, and then proceed to drive forward.
