Maruti Suzuki has launched the new generation of Celerio in the Indian market. For now, the Celerio is available only with a petrol engine. However, Maruti Suzuki will be launching a factory-fitted version of the CNG in our country. The manufacturer will make an official announcement about the CNG Celerio in the coming weeks. The Celerio CNG will go on sale after the announcement. The prices will also be revealed at the announcement only.
Currently, the 2021 Celerio is powered by a new K10C petrol engine that replaces the K10B engine. The new engine produces 68 bhp of max power and 89 Nm of peak torque. So, the new engine is slightly more powerful than the earlier engine. It is still offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.
The new engine is also slightly more powerful and produces more torque than the K10B engine. It comes with new DualJet technology. So, instead of one injector per cylinder, Maruti Suzuki is using two injectors. This gives precise control over fueling and keeps the engine cooler. It also comes with Idle Start/Stop technology. So, when the car comes to a stop, after a few seconds, the engine shuts and when the driver presses the clutch, the engine starts automatically. This helps in saving fuel.

As of now, we do not know which engine will Maruti Suzuki use for the CNG version of the Celerio. Maruti might offer the older K10B engine because they used to offer the previous-gen Celerio with the factory-fitted CNG. Or the manufacturer can work on making the new K10C engine compatible with CNG. We would have to wait for Maruti Suzuki to officially announce the Celerio CNG for more details. We do know that it will come with the S-CNG features that Maruti Suzuki uses on other CNG vehicles.
Because of the DualJet technology and the new engine, Celerio is now the most fuel-efficient petrol car in India. Maruti Suzuki claims that Celerio will deliver a fuel efficiency of 26.68 kmpl. Having said that, we know that while running on CNG, the engine produces less power and torque but it delivers more fuel efficiency. The previous generation Celerio used to claim a fuel efficiency of 30.47 km/kg while running on CNG.
Prices and variants
The prices of 2021 Celerio start at Rs. 4.99 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 6.94 lakhs ex-showroom. It is offered in four variants, namely LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. The AMT gearbox is offered with all variants except the base LXI variant.
Dimensions
The Celerio is now based on the Heartect platform. So, the dimensions of the hatchback have been increased. It now measures 3,695 mm in length, has a width of 1,655 mm and a height of 1,555 mm. The wheelbase of the new-gen Celerio measures 2,435 mm and the ground clearance is 170 mm. The boot space is of a decent 313 litres.
