Here are some more SUVs heading your way next year.
Tata’s bid to enter the premium crossover segment was a failed attempt with the Aria. Now Tata has wiped the board clean and has developed the Hexa which will be launched in January 2017. The Hexa comes with class leading features and is termed as the best car Tata has made till date.
The car is powered by the 2.2-litre Varicor 400 engine that churns out a maximum of 157 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The SUV will get option of both manual and automatic transmissions. 4WD will be offered on the top-end manual variant.
The Tiguan has been long awaited in the Indian market. Volkswagen has finally confirmed that the car will be launched in India next year. The car is based on the MQB platform and will be powered by the new generation 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine.
The Tiguan will be a luxury offering in the market and will take on the likes of Ford Endeavour, and the Toyota Fortuner. It may be noted that the SUV will come to India as Completely Built Units (CBU), and it will be a hard task for the company to keep the price competitive.
The smallest SUV from the German manufacturer has already taken shape and will come to the Indian market next year. The Q2 looks very futuristic and has the correct size to be driven without a worry on cramped Indian roads. Audi targeted the young audience with the Q3 in the Indian market, the Q2 will further impact the target audience. The car will draw power from 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and new generation 2.0-litre diesel engine. Audi is expected to price the car at around Rs. 22 lakh.
Honda recently unveiled the CR-V facelift and the SUV will be launched in many international markets before the end of this year. However, the Indian market will have to wait for the SUV till next year. The new CR-V borrows design inspiration from the new Honda Civic and that makes it look very aggressive. The SUV has also become longer, and this translates into segment leading rear space. CR-V offers only a petrol engine in form of 2.4-litre i-VTEC motor making 184 BHP, but we may see an option of diesel engine in the facelifted model.
Chevrolet Trailblazer Facelift
Chevrolet’s attempt to take on the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour failed terribly. The Trailblazer received a huge price cut but could not find many buyers. In 2017, Chevrolet is planning to bring the facelifted Trailblazer that has been already caught on test on the Indian roads.
The facelift model is powered by the same 2.8-litre Duramax diesel engine that generates a maximum of 197 BHP of maximum power. The butch looking SUV does not offer a 4X4 system in the current model, but that may change with the facelifted model arriving next year.
