Mahindra XUV Aero
Launch During: Mid 2018/ Expected Price: 20+ lakhs
The Aero, which is the company’s coupe SUV is also expected to be launched in the Indian market in 2018, if reports are to be believed. The vehicle will have the most powerful iteration of the 2.2 liter engine. The Aero was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The company is even contemplating getting a fully electric version of the same and has even begun work on the batteries.
Skoda Kodiaq
Launch During: September / Expected Price: 30-40 lakhs
Skoda’s all-new SUV, the Kodiaq will be their flagship model, when launched in September. The vehicle will take on the likes of the Fortuner and the Endeavour. The vehicle will be powered by a 2.0 liter diesel engine which will produce over 180 Bhp. It will also be on offer in both 2wd and AWD guise.
Mahindra XUV700
Launch During: Early 2018 / Expected Price: 25+ lakhs
Mahindra currently has the Ssangyong Rexton to take on the Fortuner. Sadly, the Ssangyong brand never caught on in India which has made Mahindra scrap their plan of bringing in any of the Korean manufacturer’s products in the future. What it will however do is to create an all-new large SUV, codenamed the Y400 based on the new Rexton which will have a Mahindra badge on it. So you will see a flagship Mahindra product coming from the brand that will sit above the XUV500. It will most likely be powered by a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine making 184 Bhp and 420 Nm. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
Hyundai sub 4-meter
Launch During: Mid 2018/ Expected Price: 6-10 lakhs
Hyundai is all set to introduce an all-new sub 4-meter SUV that will sit below the Creta. We expect the company to showcase the car at the upcoming 2018 Delhi Autoexpo. Details on engines are not yet known.
Mitsubishi Outlander
Launch During: End 2017/ Expected Price: 25 lakhs
The Outlander name plate is all set to make a come back to the Indian market sometime this year. A few dealers have already shown the vehicle to customers. The vehicle is expected to be offered in 7 seat variant and will be powered by a 2.4 liter petrol engine making 165 Bhp and 222 Nm. The engine will be mated to a CVT and will be offered in AWD guise, like the previous generation Outlander.
Audi Q2
Launch During: Festive season / Expected Price: 25 lakhs
Audi India will get its smallest crossover, the Q2 into the Indian market sometime this year. This will make it the cheapest Audi on sale in the country. It will be priced around the Rs 20 lakh mark. It carries the Audi design theme and has a virtual cockpit on the inside, something that we have come to expect from Audis. It will feature LED headlamps as well. On the engines front, the 1.4 liter TFSi unit from the A3/4 is expected while we could also get the 2.0 liter diesel engine.
Nissan X-Trail
Launch During: Festive season/ Expected Price: 35 lakhs
Nissan will be launching the X-Trail, which is their flagship model later in the year. The company first showcased the car last year at the Auto Expo and was expected to launch the product last year itself, however they decided to delay it to 2017. The X-Trail will be the first hybrid SUV on sale in this segment and will be powered by a 2.0 liter engine that makes 145 Bhp and 207 Nm. The electric motor on the other hand produces 40 Bhp and 107 Nm.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
Launch During: Early 2018/ Expected Price: 25 lakhs
The Pajero Sport has been the sole bread earner for Mitsubishi in India. While the company still exists with a small number of dealers, they are planning on bringing the all-new Pajero Sport into our market soon. The vehicle has already been imported into India for testing purposes which makes us believe that the company could launch the new vehicle this year. The new vehicle is powered by a 2.4 liter turbo diesel unit making 178 Bhp and 430 Nm. The interiors have been spruced up as well.
Honda CR-V
Launch During: Early 2018/ Expected Price: 25+ lakhs
Honda’s flagship SUV, the CR-V continues to soldier on in the Indian market. There is adequate demand for the vehicle since it is one of the only petrol SUVs in the segment. A facelift of the same was globally unveiled sometime back and the same will be launched in the Indian market sometime this year. The update is mainly visual, with the front end now sporting the new Honda family grill. This one will be offered with a diesel engine option as well. There may even be a 7-seat option on offer which could make the CR-V an interesting proposition.
Tata Q501
Launch During: Mid 2018/ Expected Price: 20+ lakhs
Tata’s flagship SUV, the Q501 will be introduced mid next year. The vehicle will not only use a lot of expertise from the Land Rover brand, but it will also use parts like the chassis and the suspension components as well. It will most likely be powered by the same 2.0 liter engine that will be offered in the Compass, which means it will produce around 170 Bhp and 350 Nm. The company has already begun testing the vehicle using Discovery Sport shells.
Mercedes GLC 43 AMG
Launch During: July 21st / Expected Price: 80 lakhs
Mercedes will launch the GLC 43 AMG day after tomorrow. The 43 engine is powered by a 3.0 liter V6 engine that produces 357 Bhp and 521 Nm. The 43 AMG will be priced around the 75 lakh mark, if the C43 AMG pricing is anything to go by. The GLC 43 AMG will get the AMG styling kit on the outside and the inside.
Volvo XC60
Launch During: November/ Expected Price: 55 lakhs
Volvo will be launching their latest model, the XC60 in the Indian market later in the year. The SUV looks a lot like their newer generation vehicles, which means it has the massive grille with the Thor LED headlamps up front. The SUV will take on the GLC and the X3 when it is introduced in the Indian market. Given how well priced and well loaded their cars currently are, we expect this to be no different.
