Hyundai Santa Fe
The Santa Fe is Hyundai’s flagship SUV in the Indian market. It has been on sale in the Indian market since 2014 without any update. While the global model has been receiving updates yearly, those haven’t come to our market. We do however believe that a new facelift for the SUV will be coming our way this year. It will feature a new front end, with LED DRLs similar to that on the Tucson, giving the SUV a more aggressive look. The same 2.0 and 2.2 liter engines will be on offer.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
The Pajero Sport has been the sole bread earner for Mitsubishi in India. While the company still exists with a small number of dealers, they are planning on bringing the all-new Pajero Sport into our market soon. The vehicle has already been imported into India for testing purposes which makes us believe that the company could launch the new vehicle this year.
The new vehicle looks a lot more flamboyant than the outgoing version, which was more butch and rugged. The new vehicle is powered by a 2.4 liter turbo diesel unit making 178 Bhp and 430 Nm. The interiors have been spruced up as well. We hope that such products can bring back the Mitsubishi brand from the dead.
Isuzu MUX
This brute looking SUV from Isuzu Motors will replace the current MU-7 this year. While most people don’t even know that the MU7 exists, Isuzu wants to have a new flagship SUV for the Indian market. Isuzu has already begun testing this SUV in India. The MU-X will be built on the I-GRIP platform and will feature a 4X4 transfer case with a shift-on-the-fly feature. In the international market, the car is powered by two engine options, 1.99-litre 150BHP and 3.0-litre 177-BHP engine options. India is likely to get the latter, with manual and automatic gearbox options.
Chevrolet Trailblazer
Chevrolet’s attempt to take on the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour failed terribly. The Trailblazer received a huge price cut recently but still could not find many buyers. In 2017, Chevrolet is planning to bring the facelifted Trailblazer that has been already caught on test on the Indian roads. Homolagation for the same was already underway a few months back which means the SUV is ready for launch.
The facelift model is powered by the same 2.8-litre Duramax diesel engine that generates a maximum of 197 BHP of maximum power. The butch looking SUV does not offer a 4X4 system in the current model, but that may change with the facelifted model arriving next year. The main update has been on the interiors with the SUV now getting a new touch screen system with Car Play.
