This news came as a shocker to us. The Jetta which is currently the only premium car on sale from VW in India is soon going to be bid adieu to the Indian market.

Why is it saying bye?

The next generation of the Jetta will be based on the MQB and will be internationally unveiled in 2017. The Jetta hasn’t seen very high volumes over the past few months across the world. Because of this, VW will most likely not launch the new Jetta in right hand drive format, which means we will not get the all new Jetta. The current Jetta will be on sale till the CKD kits of the same are available after which the model will sadly be axed.

Nissan Evalia

The Nissan Evalia is one of those vehicles that never really took off. It had the practicality and was very good as a people mover, but it never appealed to individual car buyers due to its van type appearance.

Why is it saying bye?

There is really no demand for the Evalia or its cousin, the Stile in the country. Due to this, the model will soon be discontinued. No replacement is planned due to the lack of interest of the people in this segment.

Renault Fluence

The Renault Fluence has not had a good run in India. Over the past few months, the car has been selling in single digit numbers, which is really low even by the segment standards. The Fluence will soon leave the market due to this.

The Fluence globally has been replaced by a car called the Megane sedan. According to a report, the Megane sedan is going to be on sale in 20 countries, India being one of them. Now whether the company finally decides to bring in the car or not will be decided at a later date. But one thing is for sure, the Fluence name plate is going to be axed either which way.

Renault Koleos

The Koleos too has not been very fast moving. It is the only 5 seat diesel SUV in the market currently but yet finds no takers.

Over the past few months, Renault has not managed to sell even one unit of the Koleos. The current generation Koleos may soon be discontinued due to these dwindling numbers. There is an all new generation Koleos which was recently unveiled in the Brazilian market. Whether the company finds the market large enough to bring in the new vehicle or not is something that will be seen later. The new vehicle looks a lot sharper than the outgoing one and more in line with Renault’s global design language.

Chevrolet Cruze

The current Chevrolet Cruze has been here for a while now. Though the car was really good to look at when it was launched, it is now beginning to show its age. We will soon have to say goodbye to the current Cruze.

The American market has already got the all new Cruze. The same is expected to launch in India in 2018. GM has already confirmed that the new model will be coming in. Unfortunately though we have a long wait for it. The new vehicle may also get a smaller 1.6 liter diesel engine and a 1.4 liter turbo petrol option. This new vehicle will also feature Car Play support.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

The Trailblazer didn’t really shake up the SUV market. In its current avatar, it is soon going to be discontinued.

GM India has already brought in the all new Trailblazer was homologation. The new vehicle will be launched later this year itself. The vehicle has already been spotted testing a few times in the country. It looks a lot sharper than the outgoing model. The interiors too have been spruced up. Under the hood though, the same 2.8 liter duramax engine will do duty.

Chevrolet Beat

The Beat has been around for a while now. GM India is giving their whole portfolio a make over. Hence the Beat in the current avatar is going to go.

An all new Beat is expected sometime next year. Chevrolet has confirmed that an all new Beat will be launched. Not only that, the Beat will also get a sibling, the Beat Activ which will be more of a butch looking version of the Beat.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

The Pajero Sport is the only vehicle which Mitsubishi is selling in the country currently. The vehicle has been around for a while now and is soon going to be discontinued.

The all new Pajero Sport which has already been unveiled in the global market will be replacing this Pajero Sport. The new one looks a lot more edgy and not as butch as the outgoing vehicle. The new vehicle will most likely get a smaller 2.4 liter engine which will be more powerful and have more torque as well.
