Here are five more things about the Jeep Renegade that you don’t know about.

Interiors are premium

A series of spy pictures have revealed the interiors of the Renegade. It looks extremely premium with various equipment and colour theme. The Renegade gets a black dashboard with silver inserts.

The seats are fabric but are dual tone, giving it a very upmarket look. The steering, gear knob, and the infotainment system are same as the Compass but the cabin design is completely different. There is also a grab handle for the c0-driver on the dashboard.

India may see under 4-metre model

The current GST tax regime has levied an excessive tax on any vehicle above 4-metre. Jeep may rethink their strategy and bring in a sub 4-metre version of the vehicle to the Indian market. There have been various reports about the same but Jeep has remained tight-lipped about the same. Jeep may work on the bumpers and the overhang of the Renegade to bring it under the 4-metre mark. If Jeep successfully does that, it will also bring in engines under 1.5-litre as vehicles which are powered by under 1.5-litre engine get the benefits.

Testing has already started

Jeep India has already started testing the Renegade in India. Various test mules of the Renegade have been caught in the various corners of the country. The Renegade has been caught under heavy camouflage testing in India. Jeep has been testing the vehicle since last year in India. We may see a production ready model without camouflage soon.

Capable

The current generation of Renegade only offers 4X4 capability with the top-end Trailhawk variant of the vehicle. In the Indian model too, only the top-end variant is expected to get the 4X4 option. It will offer an advanced 4X4 system with advanced features like Active Drive Low, Selec-Terrain system. It will be quite capable and will be able to reach tricky corners.

Launch next year

Jeep Renegade will officially come to the Indian market next year. The most affordable Jeep is expected to make its debut by late 2018, somewhere near the festive season. Jeep may, however, showcase the vehicle at the Auto Expo, which is scheduled to happen in February 2018. The Renegade is available in the international markets, Jeep may bring in the vehicle to India’s biggest automobile exhibition to get customer feedback before the launch.
