Ghaziabad’s Kavi Nagar police recently arrested a man who claims to be a real-life Robinhood. Named Mohammed Irfan, he is popularly known as the ‘Jaguar Thief’. The thief is currently lodged in Uttar Pradesh’s Dasna jail but he’s making headlines in Bihar’s panchayat elections.
How did he turn into a Jaguar thief?
As per Kavi Nagar Police station, the first FIR against Irfan dates back to 2013. He committed his first crime back in 2010 and used the spoils to get his sister married. While there are many mega robberies that he has done to date, Irfan got the name of ‘Jaguar thief’ in 2016 after a robbery.

Just before the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi announced demonetisation, Irfan burgled about Rs 65 lakh cash from a house in Delhi. That’s not all, he left the place in a Jaguar XF that belonged to the owner of the burgled house. He soon became popular as even cops said that his way was extremely innovative and no one would ever suspect a man driving around in a Jaguar of burglary.
Irfan roamed around free until recently he committed a Rs 1.5 crore burglary at a Ghaziabad home. The accused committed most of the crimes himself about 11 members of his gang got arrested before the cops could reach him with the help of CCTV footage. He operates in about 12 states including Punjab, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Goa, and Uttar Pradesh.
Hailed as a local hero
Irfan allegedly distributed the spoils that he stole from the rich people. People from his village said similar things. Irfan also helped anyone who was sick and needed money for treatment. The locals also claim that Irfan organised weddings of around 50 women from the underprivileged section of the village. He got into politics after the locals persuaded him to do so as per The Print.
Irfan’s wife Gulshan Parveen won the Zilla Panchayat election from Sitamarhi’s Pupri block ward number 34 by asking for the votes in ‘Robinhood’ Irfan’s name. Irfan had a bounty of Rs 1 crore against him and he used that bounty to construct seven roads around his village. Gulshan Parveen and the local villagers now want Irfan to contest in the assembly elections whenever he comes out of jail.
Owns several luxury cars
According to a report in Siasat, Irfan lives a luxurious life. He owns several apartments in metropolitan cities and uses luxury cars to travel around. However, we could not verify the information. He reportedly travels from one city to another to get out of the radar of the cops.
