Datsun redi-GO AMT to be launched in January

Datsun redi-GO, which was launched last year received the more powerful 1.0-litre engine earlier this year. Datsun has now announced that the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) version of the stylish hatchback will be launched in January 2018.

Datsun announced that AMT version of the car will be launched soon but the launch time was not clear till now. The new car is expected to be launched after 15th January and will mark Datsun’s entry into the AMT world.

Datsun redi-GO shares the engine and the platform with the Renault Kwid. The AMT version will be only available with the 1.-litre engine version that produces a maximum power of 67 Bhp and 91 Nm of maximum torque. The 5-speed AMT will be similar to the one offered with the Renault Kwid. The gear selector of the redi-GO is expected to be same as the rotary dial of the Renault Kwid. The 0.8-litre version will continue to be offered with the 5-speed manual transmission.

Everything else, like the exteriors and the interiors of the redi-GO, will be similar to the manual version. The feature list will also be the same. The top-end version of the redi-GO manual offers LED daytime running lamps, all-black theme cabin, red accents on the seats, silver finish on the AC vents. The basic infotainment system is also expected to be carried forward. The infotainment system of the redi-GO 1.0-litre offers CD player, USB and AUX-in. There is no Bluetooth option and the driverside airbag is available as an option on the top-end trim.

The AMT will be available with only a few selected variants. The 1.0-litre redi-GO comes with only T(O) and S variant so the new variant can be expected in these two variants only.

The redi-GO AMT will take on the likes of Tata Tiago AMT and Maruti Alto 800 AMT. The price of the AMT version is expected to be Rs. 25k to Rs. 30k premium than the regular version of the vehicle.
