The spec sheet of the DC Design Avanti has been revealed and along with it, a flurry of images of the homegrown Indian sportscar. The DC Avanti sportscar will use a 2 liter turbocharged petrol engine whose power and torque outputs are rated at 250 Bhp and 366 Nm respectively. Said to a be a Ford EcoBoost turbo petrol unit with variable valve timing and direct injection, this engine is said to propel the DC Avanti to an electronically limited top speed of 180 Kph. A 6 speed manual gearbox powers the rear wheels of the Avanti. The DC Avanti sits on a tubular steel space frame chassis and weighs 1,562 kilograms. Airbags and ABS+EBD will be standard safety feature on the Avanti, which also features disc brakes on all four wheels.
The Avanti uses double wishbone suspension at the front and the rear, with coil over springs handling damping duties. With a ground clearance of 170 mm that is copious as far as the sportscar world is concerned, the DC Avanti seems tailormade to take on the rough and tumble of Indian road conditions. The twin seat DC Avanti will be built at DC Design’s Talegaon manufacturing facility, which will produce 2,000 units of the sportscar each year.
The car commands an ex-showroom price of 35 lakh rupees and bookings for the first batch have already commenced at DC Design showrooms, with the booking amount pegged at 5 lakh rupees. The first crop of customer DC Avanti sportscars are expected to hit Indian roads in January 2015.
