10 DC Design sedans: From Honda City to Hindustan Ambassador, & even a Rolls Royce

Dilip Chhabria’s DC Design is best known for its head-turning designs that transform regular cars into what many consider to be either show stealers or eyesores. Its sometimes an amazing hit that everyone falls in love with, or a serious miss.

This customization house has worked on a host of vehicles ranging from hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs. In this post, we take a look at 10 sedan-based mod jobs done by DC Design.

Skoda Superb

The Skoda Superb is one of the best-looking sedans in the Indian car market today. However, when DC Design was done with it transformed into something rather strange, which doesn’t remind you of the stock car at all.

The full body kit transforms the superb into a bulky coupe with Cadillac ATS-inspired headlamps up front, two fewer doors on the sides and a roof that glides into the boot similar to ones you find on a coupe.

Honda City

The Honda City design brief is all about subtlety and being classy, however, when a DC body kit was added to this one, it became anything but subtle. The City features modified bumpers, body moulding and a grille in red plastic and a rear diffuser. Another change seen is the faux air scoop on the bonnet. The only thing left stock are the alloy wheels.

Rolls Royce Silver Spirit III

The Silver Spirit Mark III was introduced in 1993 but his old Roller looks rather modern thanks to DC Design going to town on it with modifications galore. The Silver Spirit features modern Rolls-Royce touches including the large pantheon grille.

Other rather outlandish touches include the stretched out headlights, scissor doors and the coupe-like rear end and the stretched out taillamps give this luxury car a rather unique look.

Hyundai Elantra

This older-gen Hyundai Elantra too has been fettled by DC Design. The Elantra also gets a matte grey wrap with red highlights along with a new front grille and rear bumper have been highlighted in red as well. The Elantra rides on new alloy wheels and the interiors have been modified as well. Overall, DC Design’s makeover for the Elantra gives it a more aggressive look.

Honda Accord

The older generation Honda Accord was known for its good looks and was termed the gentleman’s car of its time. DC Design, like they usually do, transformed this discreet sedan into a low slung sports car that screams ‘look at me’.

Changes are extensive on the Accord and it features a new body with faux air vents on the front fenders, scissor doors, and large spoiler at the rear. The sports car also features a custom DC exhaust setup with the tailpipes exiting out of the car’s bodywork. This Accord is no longer the discreet sedan it once was, instead, it would look at home on the cover of a JDM magazine

Ford Ikon

The Ford Icon’s flowing lines made it a car that many people found attractive. DC Design thankfully kept most the lines of the sedan, though the roof was chopped and the car transformed into a two-seater convertible. Called the Ikoncept, this convertible sports car sports a very loud yellow paint job.

Mitsubishi Lancer

This rather good looking car started life as a Mitsubishi Lancer and in 2003 was transformed into the low slung two-door coupe called the Gaia that you see above. The design is said to be inspired by Bentleys of its time and features a long bonnet and a short rear end which give it a sporty appearance Also quite noticeable are the massive 22-inch wheels and the centre mounted exhausts at the rear. The interiors too have been changed and the car looks nothing like it was before.

Hindustan Ambassador

DC unveiled the stunning Ambierod concept in 2008. The Ambierod mixed modern touches with the classic lines of the Ambassador to create a true masterpiece.

The Ambierod is powered by a V12 engine and has space inside for just 3 passengers, though the ambient lighting really does make up for the lack of one more seat. To get inside, the Amberoid also sports gullwing doors, which are an eye-catching attraction on their own.

Daewoo Cielo

DC Design transformed the classy looking Daewoo Cielo into this rather weird crossover style car called the Vampire. The DC Vampire was inspired by the bonkers Plymouth Prowler and features Corvette style tail lights flared wheel arches at the rear. The front end looks rather brutish thanks to a weird grille and exposed front wheels, which spoil the fact that the Vampire is actually a convertible car.

Maruti Suzuki Esteem

The low slung Maruti Esteem was admired by many generations of Indian car lovers. Unfortunately, DC Design transformed the Esteem into the Arka, which looks nothing like the original vehicle.

This two-door convertible features curvy styling with a front end that looks rather odd thanks to the way the headlights are stretched out and the small open mouth grille.
