Discounts aplenty – 6 cars offered with discounts of close to Rs. 1 lakh

During the festive season, carmakers, apart from launching new products, offer heavy discounts on their existing ones. And given that a lot of buying decisions are made on how big the discounts are, here some really lucrative deals that should help you get the most car for your buck. We’ve narrowed down a few cars that are priced close to Rs 10 lakh, and are being offered with offers and discounts, effectively helping you save about a lakh!

Honda Mobilio

Upto 1.5 lakhs discount

Discounts aplenty – 6 cars offered with discounts of close to Rs. 1 lakh

The Brio’s platform has spawned the very successful Amaze, but sadly neither the Mobilio nor the Brio hatchback have been able to be the number gainers for Honda. As a product, the Mobilio is the most spacious of the three, comes with the same diesel (as the Amaze) but a more powerful 1.5-litre petrol (borrowed from the City), and is pleasing to drive.

Prices start at Rs 6.79 lakhs, and discounts of up to Rs 1.5 lakhs are being offered.

Skoda Rapid

Upto 1 lakh discount

Discounts aplenty – 6 cars offered with discounts of close to Rs. 1 lakh

Updated periodically the Rapid might not look too different from how it did when originally launched, but the car has undergone some vital technical upgrades. While the naturally aspirated petrol engine (1.6-litre unit) remains unchanged, the new (introduced last year) 1.5-litre unit is less noisy than before. And the latter is also available with an optional dual-clutch DSG transmission, making the Rapid one of the few diesel automatics in the price bracket.

In terms of discounts, cash discounts of up to Rs 1 lakh are being offered from the dealer’s end. Prices for the Skoda Rapid start at Rs 7.56 lakh, ex-showroom.

Fiat Linea

Upto 1.1 lakhs discount

Discounts aplenty – 6 cars offered with discounts of close to Rs. 1 lakh

Fiat is known for making driver/enthusiast oriented products, and even in the most regular guise, the cars don’t disappoint. The Linea is one such example. It looks pretty, comes with a decent range of engines, and handles better than most cars in the segment.

While the prospects of an Abarth version of the sedan are being looked at, the company is currently offering benefits of up to Rs 1,10,000 on the Linea. Prices for the car start at Rs 8.08 lakh, ex-showroom.

Renault Lodgy

Upto 80,000 rupees discount

Discounts aplenty – 6 cars offered with discounts of close to Rs. 1 lakh

Renault Lodgy failed to replicate the success of its sibling, the Duster, but the company hasn’t given up yet. Based on the same platform as the Duster, the Lodgy isn’t just spacious on the inside, it drives well, too. The styling hasn’t really worked for the vehicle, but apart from that, the Lodgy is a good product. It comes with two engine options – an 85PS version and a 110PS version of the 1.5-litre diesel unit.

Prices for the Lodgy start at Rs 8.29 lakh, but discounts add up to Rs 80,000, which sweetens the deal even further.

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross

Upto 90,000 rupees discount

Discounts aplenty – 6 cars offered with discounts of close to Rs. 1 lakh

The most recent entirely new product from Maruti, the S-Cross is the company’s re-entry into premium cars. With a set of new dealerships (NEXA), Maruti clearly wants to increase its reach – something that the Kizashi and Vitara sadly couldn’t do. Available in two engine options – a 1.3-litre diesel and a 1.6-litre unit – the S-Cross is the crossover that doesn’t try too hard in order to be called an SUV.

Priced at Rs 8.34 lakh onwards, the S-Cross is currently being offered with discounts of up to Rs 90,000. That essentially means you can have the larger (and more potent) DDiS 320 variant for the price of a DDiS 200.

Nissan Terrano

Upto 95,000 rupees discount

Discounts aplenty – 6 cars offered with discounts of close to Rs. 1 lakh

A badge-engineered version (rebadged but with a few changes) version of the Duster garnered a lot of interest, but its sales tapered off eventually, as mentioned in our ‘Soda Bottle’ story. It comes with all the good bits from the Duster, and polishes the not so good ones, so as a product, the Terrano does look like a decent option.

Prices start at a little above Rs 10 lakhs, but with discounts and offers adding up to Rs 95,000, the Terrano is available with probably the best deal yet.
