The man behind the creation of this real-life Tumbler is architect and artist Nguyen Dac Chung. He is the owner of Vietnam-based Macro Studios – a company that has gained popularity by creating intricate superhero costumes. Nguyen along with a team of skilled and talented team of designers, mechanics, engineers and architects first created this masterpiece with an internal combustion engine (ICE), however, he then switched the drivetrain of the replica to a more sustainable electric powertrain.
The electric Tumbler, which weighs in at just 600 kg is nearly four times lighter than the original 2268 kg batmobile. This true replica Tumbler retains the original tubular steel frame like the movie batmobile but, replaces its heavy metal bodywork with lightweight panels composed of ABS plastic, carbon fibre, and composite. The designer revealed that some of the parts on the E-batmobile are handcrafted, while a few of them are 3D printed.
According to the information available, dimensionally the replica measures 3,700 mm in length, 2,400 mm in width and 1,300 mm in height. The vehicle comes equipped with 13-inch rims wrapped in 22-inch tyres in the front, while at the rear the replica gets a set of 18-inch rims wrapped in gigantic 33-inch tyres. The wheel sizing on the E-Tumbler is a little smaller than the original vehicle. Additionally, the replica has a faux exhaust, slightly different intakes and some minor changes in the aero components but other than that overall the vehicle looks pretty much identical to the original vehicle.
The replica inside gets a cockpit in which a driver and a passenger can fit, however getting in and out of the vehicle will be a difficult task. It comes with two hydraulic doors that open and close via remote control, while it also gets 4 tactical cameras for a near 360 view, particularly useful when navigating tight corners.
Nguyen’s previous replica Tumbler back in 2020 was powered by a 400cc, 4-cylinder engine but this time around the ICE has been swapped out for an electric drivetrain. The replica gets a new electric motor which is coupled with a lithium-ion battery which enables this vehicle to reach the top speed of 104 kmph. Currently, there is no information about the exact specifications of the battery or motor but we can hope that the company releases that information soon. The same is the case with the range of the electric Tumbler. We reckon that it will get a little hurt in the overall range because of the massive tyres and unconventional design of the vehicle.
