Ford has already teased us with the next generation Endeavour in concept guise and is planning to launch the same next year. But as it turns out, Ford wants to make the maximum out of the current generation Endeavour and has just given a mild facelift to keep things going until the next generation model bows in. The facelifted Endeavour in its 2014 guise has been launched at a starting price of Rs 19,83,898 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The 2014 Endeavour has been refreshed a little and you can make out the changes if you look closely. The front fascia is where the majority of the exterior changes have taken place. It gets a bolder front grille, revised bumpers and mildly altered headlamps which now look better than the outgoing version. The fog lamp bezels are new, while the air dam now gets a familiar Ford look and resembles that of the smaller Figo.
The interiors on the top-end variant continues to sport a touch enabled SATNAV entertainment system with Navigation, Bluetooth and reverse parking camera. The old school SUV is still a popular choice for those looking for size. It has a special following in the northern part of the country, which explains the launch of the car in Chandigarh, a city that normally doesn’t play host to new launches often.
The 2014 Endeavour will go on sale in three variants: 2.5 Liter Duratorq TDCi 4×2 Manual Transmission, a 3.0-Liter Duratorq TDCi 4×2 Automatic Transmission and a 3.0-liter Duratorq TDCi 4×4 Automatic Transmission, that will be available at Rs. 19,83,898, Rs. 21,28,119 and Rs. 23,06,302 respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.
The engine options are the same. It get a 3.0 liter diesel motor that has a maximum power of 156 PS and 380 NM of peak torque. The entry level 2.5 litre diesel engine develops 143 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 330 NM. This is available only with manual transmission, while the bigger engine is available only with the 5-speed automatic transmission. The next generation Endeavour will be launched in India in the later half of 2015 or early 2016. Till then, the refreshed Endeavour is expected to keep sales moving.
