Ford will soon launch facelifted versions of the Figo hatchback and Figo Aspire compact sedan in India. The facelifted Figo was spotted recently, with heavy camouflaging. Both the facelifted cars are expected to be launched sometime in 2018. They could be showcased at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. The facelifted Figo is expected to feature a cosmetic makeover on the outside. New features are likely to be added to the interiors.
Two key mechanical changes are also in the offing. One is the 1.5 liter, 3 cylinder Dragon petrol engine, which is expected to replace the 4 cylinder 1.5 liter Sigma Ti-VCT petrol. The Dragon engine, continues to be naturally aspirated, but produces more power and torque than the Ti-VCT engine. The Dragon engine makes 122 Bhp and 150 Nm, which is a significant step up from the Sigma engine’s 108 Bhp-136 Nm. The Dragon engine is also expected to be more fuel efficient.
Apart from the engine, Ford will also offer a new automatic gearbox. The 6 speed twin clutch automatic option will no longer be offered on the petrol Figo and Aspire variants. Instead, this gearbox will make way for a new 6 speed torque converter automatic. In fact, the Dragon engine and 6 speed torque converter gearbox combination is already offered by Ford on the facelifted EcoSport. The same combination will roll out on the facelifted Figo and Figo Aspire as well.
Another big change to the facelifted Figo twins will be addition of the SYNC3 infotainment system. This touchscreen system has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity options, apart from many other interesting features. Ford is also expected to launch the Figo Cross next year. This variant will be slightly more rugged than the Figo, in terms of looks and ground clearance. The Figo Cross will compete with the Hyundai i20 Active and the Volkswagen Cross Polo.
