Facelifted Hyundai Creta: First walkaround video is here

Hyundai has unveiled the 2022 Creta at the GIIAS. The biggest change that you will see is the new front-end design. It now resembles the front of Tucson that is on sale in the foreign market. Here, we have a walkaround video of the 2022 Creta.

The video is uploaded on YouTube by AutonetMagz. There is a slight difference between the LED Daytime Running Lamp of the Creta and the LED Daytime Running Lamp of Tucson. There are fewer LED elements in the Creta because it sits below the Tucson in Hyundai’s line-up. The main headlamp now sits vertically in the lower half of the bumper.

We can also see a new faux skid plate and grey surround that runs around the grille and the airdam. Hyundai calls this Parametric Grille and it does increase the road presence of the SUV. The tail lamps have also been slightly redesigned and the boot lid has also been tweaked. Overall, the 2022 Creta looks more attractive than the current one.

There have been some changes to the interior of the Creta as well. Now, it comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that we have seen on the Alcazar. Currently, the Creta gets a 7-inch supervision cluster which is not so configurable.

Hyundai has also added quite a few safety features to the new Creta. It now comes with ADAS or Advanced Driver Aids System. In India, currently, only Mahindra XUV700, MG Astor and MG Gloster offer ADAS features. It is not known if Hyundai will bring the ADAS features to India also.

Advanced Driver Aids System includes Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and much more. These features increase the safety quotient of the SUV.

There is also an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It is connected to a speaker system sourced from Bose. Other features include a multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button to start/stop and much more.

In Indonesia, the Creta is offered only with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces 115 PS of max power and 142 Nm of peak torque. If the numbers feel familiar that is because we get the same engine in India also. This engine is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic gearbox.

However, we also get a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 115 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Then there is the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 140 PS of max power and 242 Nm of peak torque. It is offered only with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The facelifted Creta is expected to launch in India sometime next year. Having said that, Hyundai has not officially announced anything. There will be no mechanical changes to the 2022 Creta. The changes will only be cosmetic and some features will be added. The prices will also increase with the facelift.
