Hyundai Tucson made a comeback in the Indian market after a few years. Even though the current version of Tucson is not very popular in the Indian market, the segment is expected to get exciting, especially after the launch of the Tata Harrier. Hyundai will launch the new, updated Tucson to the Indian market next year.
According to a report, Hyundai is expected to launch the new Tucson by the middle of 2019. Internationally, the Tucson received an update and was revealed at the 2018 New York Motor Show. Similar updates are expected in the new model. The updates on the new Tucson includes new headlamps with full LED units, a new grille and redesigned bumpers.
The international model also gets new driver-assist features, including autonomous emergency braking and lane-assist. Other features like a 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise control have been added but we are not sure which features of these will make it to the Indian version. The infotainment system of the new Tucson has been updated with a new 8.0-inch touchscreen system that gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Indian version of the Tucson will continue to offer the same engine options. There will be a 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine options. The petrol engine produces a maximum of 155 Bhp whereas the diesel unit produces a maximum of 185 Bhp. There will be a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission with both the engine options.
The Tucson is also expected to offer Electronic Stability Control, hill assist and brake assist as standard features. The top-end variants will also offer 6-airbag system. This update will be a mid-life facelift for the current generation model before it is completely replaced by the all-new Tucson in 2021.
In the Indian market, the Tucson takes on the likes of Jeep Compass but soon, the arrival of the Tata Harrier will make the segment quite interesting. Hyundai Tucson is known for its premium features at a value for money price tag. The Jeep Compass is currently cheaper than the Hyundai Tucson, and the upcoming Harrier is also expected to be cheaper. The new Tucson is likely to continue at similar price levels as the current model.
