Japanese utility vehicle maker Isuzu has just launched a facelifted version of its flagship offering for the India market – the MU-X luxury SUV. The facelifted Isuzu MU-X is priced at Rs. 26.26 lakhs, ex-showroom Hyderabad, for the base 4X2 variant, making it cheaper than segment leader, Toyota Fortuner. A similar Fortuner variant costs Rs. 29.22 lakhs.
The MU-X is also available with a 4X4 transfer case. The 4X4 variant is priced at Rs. 28.22 lakhs, which again cheaper makes the MU-X cheaper than the Toyota Fortuner 4X4. Both variants use a 3 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that outputs 175 Bhp of peak power and 390 Nm of peak torque.
While the 3 liter engine is larger than that of the Toyota Fortuner, which uses a 2.8 liter diesel motor across most variants, it’s less powerful. The Isuzu MU-X’s diesel motor is paired to a 5 speed automatic gearbox as standard. There’s no manual gearbox offered.
The facelifted SUV gets a host of styling changes on the outside. The front end receives Bi-LED Auto-levelling projector headlamps, LED DRLs and a refreshed bumper design. At the rear, the tail lamps get a refresh while the fog lamps go LED. The 2-tone rear spoiler and shark-fin antenna are new additions. There alloy wheels are new, and measure 18 inches, and get a diamond cut finish.
On the inside, the facelifted Isuzu MU-X gets a bunch of new features and a cosmetic makeover. The SUV gains quilt-pattern leather across all seven seats, a soft touch dashboard, satin finish for the center console, chromed AC vents and 6-Airbags. Other safety features on the SUV include ESC (Electronic Stability Control), TCS (Traction Control System), HDC (Hill Descent Control) and ABS (Antilock Braking System) with EBA (Emergency Brake Assist) and EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution).
Bookings for the new SUV are now open at all Isuzu dealerships across India. The Isuzu MU-X is now available with an optional 5ECURE’ package that offers ‘5 years warranty and 5 years free periodic maintenance or 150,000 km (whichever is earlier).
Mr. Naohiro Yamaguchi, Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India, said, “The ISUZU mu-X has been gathering a lot of momentum in the Indian SUV market and is gradually becoming a preferred choice for many Indian families, thanks to its sheer space and comfort it offers. Today with the all new mu-X, we have upped the ante in our offering to the Indian SUV enthusiasts and changing lifestyle of Indian families, who seek ‘more’ from us. The new mu-X is a perfect answer to those who will appreciate the capability and value it offers. I strongly believe the new mu-X will go on to win many more hearts in India.”
