Facelifted MG Hector: New video teaser out ahead of launch

MG Motor India today released a new teaser video for their upcoming next-generation Hector SUV. MG launched the Hector in India back in 2019 and it was their first product as well. The SUV became a success among buyers for its features and the pricing. MG has been lately releasing teaser images and videos of the Hector and the new teaser video offers a glimpse on how the front-end of the next-gen Hector would look like. Like the current generation Hector, the upcoming model will also have a very bold and premium looking front. The video shows a wide Argyle Inspired Diamond Mesh Grille which offers a Bold, Commanding, and Powerful stance to the Next-Gen Hector. MG will be launching the next-gen Hector by the end of 2022.

The teaser video of the next-gen MG Hector shows the front fascia of the SUV. The bold design of the Grille is meticulously crafted to connect with Hector’s signature DRLs, further amplifying its commanding presence. The next-generation Hector SUV gets a design which is siy.milar to the current model but it would look more premium than before. The teaser also the Hector SUV in a Deep Red shade which looks like a new shade that would be offered with the SUV. Along with the exterior, interior of this SUV would also be updated. Earlier, MG had released an image of a new touchscreen infotainment system which would be offered with the next-gen Hector.

The 14 inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system in the Hector is the largest infotainment screen offered with any car in India. The screen looks a lot more more crisp in comparison the current version. The current version of Hector gets a 10.4 inch touchscreen infotainment screen. There are no physical buttons visible on the centre console to control various features in the screen. All the buttons are integrated into the new 14 inch screen. Like before, MG will be offering a variety of features with the infotainment system. It will support connectivity features and also voice commands like before. MG is likely to resolve the issues that many were facing with the system initially.

Other than the touchscreen infotainment system, the interior of the Hector is likely to be revised as well. The next-gen Hector is likely to get a much more premium looking interior. There is even a possibility that MG might offer a fully-digital instrument cluster with the next-gen Hector. It will offer panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, leather seats, cruise control and so on. It is not clear whether MG would be offering Level-2 ADAS or Advanced Drive Assistance System with upcoming Hector. Although, MG is calling the SUV next-gen Hector, they have mentioned that the new model will not be replacing the existing version. The next-gen Hector would be sold alongside the existing Hector which is still very popular among buyers.

In terms of engine options, the next-generation Hector is expected to remain the same. It is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version is powered by a 1..5 litre turbocharged engine that generates 143 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. It comes with manual and CVT gearbox option. The diesel version uses a 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine generates 170 Ps and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
