MG Motors has updated India’s first-ever electric SUV – the ZS EV. The brand has launched the facelifted version of the ZS EV and it gets a price tag of Rs 22 lakh, ex-showroom. But the base Excite variant will be available from July 2022. The top-end version is priced at Rs 26 lakh and the deliveries will start soon. The new MG ZS EV is available only with a single trim.
What are the changes in the new MG ZS EV?
On the lines of the global version of the facelifted model, the India-spec version of the MG ZS EV facelift will get a revamped front fascia. This new front look comprises a closed grille, which now gets the charging port on the left side of the MG logo on the grille itself.

The all-LED headlamps with sharper daytime running LEDs too are all new, which are shared with the recently launched MG Astor. Also new to the front look of the MG ZS EV is the new bumper, which gets chrome inserts across its width at the bottom.
The only change in the side profile of the MG ZS EV facelift is the inclusion of new 17-inch machined alloy wheels with an updated five-spoke design.
The front fender of the ZS EV continues to come adorned with the ‘electric’ badge on it. MG also offers a new set of LED tail lamps, that look very similar to the Astor. It will continue to have the huge panoramic sunroof, thus making it the only electric SUV for the time being to have this feature.
Gets a longer range
The new ZS EV facelift will come with a larger 50.3 kWh battery pack. It will replace the 44 kWh unit from the outgoing model. MG has also added a new more powerful motor to the ZS EV. It now generates a maximum power of 176 PS.
With the larger battery pack, the ZS EV can now do a total of 461 km against 419 km (claimed). MG will continue to offer a fast-charging system. MG has not revealed the exact charging times for the new ZS EV.
MG ZS EV gets new features
MG was expected to add new ADAS features that are available with the Astor. However, it is likely that MG ditched that for the sake of longer range instead. The new ZS EV offers a larger 10-inch touchscreen system and a new 360-degree camera. The car also offers a blind-spot warning system. The rear passengers also get additional features like rear AC vents for a comfortable ride.
