Famous Indians who own electric cars: MS Dhoni to Tata Chairman N Chandrasekaran

The popularity of electric cars is on the rise in the Indian market. While manufacturers like Tata offer affordable EVs, even luxury carmakers like Mercedes have entered the market with their own versions. Some have even imported electric vehicles to India. Notable figures in India have also embraced electric vehicles and can frequently be spotted driving them on the roads.

Mukesh Ambani

Among the vast car collection owned by the Ambani family, they possess two Tesla electric cars. One is the Model S 100D sedan, a high-performance version powered by multiple electric motors generating 423 Ps and 660 Nm of peak torque. The other is the Model X 100D electric SUV, also a high-performance variant featuring rear falcon-wing doors for convenient entry and exit.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Former captain of the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni, recently acquired the flagship electric vehicle from Korean car manufacturer Kia in India. The Kia EV6 was introduced a few months ago with a starting price of Rs 59.95 lakh (ex-showroom). As Dhoni’s first electric car, it joins his collection, which typically includes several classic cars and motorcycles.

Nitin Gadkari

The Minister for Road Transport and Highways of India was recently spotted with a new BMW iX electric SUV. BMW launched the iX electric SUV in India a year ago, priced at Rs 1.16 crore (ex-showroom). The vehicle is a completely built unit with a claimed driving range of 425 km on a single charge, provided to Gadkari by BMW India.

Riteish Deshmukh

Riteish Deshmukh and his wife added a Red BMW iX electric SUV to their car collection this year. They already own a Tesla Model X located in California, USA, which was a gift from Riteish’s wife, Genelia.

Pooja Batra

Indian actress and former Miss India Pacific, Pooja Batra, currently residing in the USA, owns a Tesla Model 3 sedan. This entry-level model from Tesla was initially planned for launch in India.

In 2020, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors, received his Nexon EV. The Nexon EV is presently the most affordable electric SUV and the top-selling EV in the country.

Mandira Bedi

TV host and actress Mandira Bedi purchased a Tata Nexon EV, most likely opting for the XZ+ variant, in 2020. The EV boasts a peak torque of 245 Nm, 129 PS of power, and a claimed driving range of 312 km.

Mahesh Babu

Well-known Telugu actor Mahesh Babu recently acquired his first electric SUV, an Audi e-tron. He shared a picture of himself with the brand new vehicle on social media. The electric SUV generates 402 Bhp and 664 Nm of peak torque and offers a driving range of 484 km. It is priced at approximately Rs 1.18 crore (ex-showroom).

Manju Warrier

Popular Malayalam cinema actress Manju Warrier purchased a customized Mini Cooper SE electric hatchback earlier this year, following its launch in the Indian market in February. The car is sold as a completely built unit with an ex-showroom price of Rs 47.20 lakh.
