Faraday Future FF91 Production May Begin Soon

The electric vehicle segment in the automotive industry witnesses the entry of numerous new startups every year. Although not every one of these startups comes close to delivering an actual car. One of these newer startups the California-based global shared intelligent electric mobility ecosystem company, Faraday Future Electric Inc. which has had a wobbly start in its EV journey, recently unveiled its first production-intent FF 91 ultra-luxury EV.

Faraday Future FF91 Production May Begin Soon

The company during the unveiling of its first production-intent model stated that the FF 91 EV SUV is currently on track to begin its full-fledged production from the third quarter of this year. Faraday Future further instilled that they will be building more production-intent vehicles over the coming months for vehicle testing and validation, as well as final certification. The startup added that these production-intent vehicles feature the exact production-specification components.

Faraday Future Vice President of Manufacturing, Matt Tall, after the unveiling of the FF 91 said, “Building the first production-intent vehicle at the Hanford plant is an important step towards reaching the start of production in Q3. This iteration is the closest to the FF 91 production model we’ve seen to-date,”. He also added that “The FF 91 is expected to be the first ultra-luxury EV to reach the market, with a unique driver and passenger experience.”

Last year the California-based EV startup laid out three manufacturing milestones that led to the development of FF 91’s standard operating procedure. The company stated that its first milestone was the installation of pilot equipment in the Hanford manufacturing plant’s pre-production build area. While the second milestone was securing a Certificate of Occupancy, this certificate helped the company in clearing the path for the company’s pre-production builds. The third milestone in the process was the beginning of foundation construction for the remaining production areas including body, paint, warehouse and vehicle assembly. Faraday Future has now also added the completion of its first pre-production FF 91 into its list of milestones.

To commemorate the production achievements of the FF 91, the company has launched a campaign which it calls the ieMedals campaign. With each production-intent vehicle manufactured in the months leading up to the FF 91’s SOP, FF will honour a different supplier of the FF 91 from around the globe with a unique ieMedal. Users on the FF Intelligent App can earn the supplier ieMedals for their individual accounts by completing specific tasks or fulfilling co-creation challenge requirements. The ieMedals will be electronic awards added to users’ FFID accounts on the FF Intelligent App.

The company in its official statements says that “The FF 91 Futurist Alliance and FF 91 Futurist models were designed to deliver the next generation of mobility in luxury, performance, and technology. They are high-performance EVs, with unique Internet, Autonomous, and Intelligence (I.A.I.) technology capabilities that enables the vehicle’s unique third internet living space.”

Earlier this month, Faraday Future announced its partnership with South Korean automaker Myoung Shin that the companies hope will lead to the launch of the FF81 model in 2024. The FF81 is intended to be more of a mass-market EV than Faraday’s FF91 model. Production of the FF91 is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2022.
