Fiat India has begun displaying the Avventura Crossover styled hatchback, which the Italian automaker markets as a Contemporary Urban Vehicle (CUV), at city malls across three cities of India, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. In the coming days, Fiat plans to display the Avventura across more malls around the country. The display of the Avventura across city malls is a bid to build buzz around Fiat India’s latest vehicle for the Indian market. These displays also allows buyers to get a look and feel feel of Fiat’s upcoming vehicle. The Avventura’s launch will happen in early October and pre-bookings for the car are already open at Fiat dealerships across the country.

Based on the Punto EVO, the Avventura is a butch looking hatchback that seeks to square off against crossovers such as the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra Quanto in terms of price and positioning. As the Avventura is essentially a modified Punto EVO – with styling highlights such as body cladding, a spare wheel on the hatchlid, modified front and rear bumpers, and clinometers on the inside – Fiat India is expected to price the product very competitively.

A price tag just short of 5 lakh rupees, and one that undercuts that of the EcoSport, is likely for the Avventura. Such sharp pricing, on a car with 205 mm of ground clearance, will make the Avventura an attractive buy for those looking for a compact crossover. The crossover styled hatchback will also use mechanicals borrowed from the Punto EVO.

The petrol powered Avventura will use the 1.4 liter FIRE petrol motor in 89 Bhp-115 Nm state of tune while the diesel powered Avventura will ise a 1.3 liter Multijet turbo diesel motor in 91 Bhp-209 Nm state of tune. Both engines will drive the front wheels of the Avventura, by means of a 5 speed manual gearbox. Fiat India has no plans of offering an all wheel drive layout on the Avventura. Fiat is likely to export the Avventura – a vehicle chiefly conceived for the Indian car market – to emerging markets across the globe.
