Fiat dealers have revealed to CarToq that the pre-bookings for the Avventura crossover styled hatchback are now open. Fiat dealers across the country are taking pre-bookings against a sum of 20,000 rupees, which will later be adjusted towards the on-road price of the car. The Avventura is scheduled for an India touchdown in early October.

Fiat Avventura Pre-Bookings Open; Launch in Early October

In terms of pricing, the Avventura will sit above the Punto EVO 1.4 petrol and 1.3 90 HP Diesel variants. For the Avventura, expect to pay a premium of about 40,000-50,000 rupees over and above the price of Punto EVO. The Avventura is likely to be positioned as a lower priced alternate to the Ford EcoSport crossover.

In terms of specifications, the Avventura comes with a hefty ground clearance of 205 mm and rides on 16 inch alloy wheels, putting it right into SUV/Crossover territory. The Avventura’s base is the Punto EVO. Stylistic changes include revised bumpers, body cladding, roof rails and a tailgate mounted spare wheel.

These stylistic changes, along with the higher ground clearance allow the Avventura to make the cut as a crossover. Fiat India’s marketing material drives home the point that the Avventura is a “Contemporary Urban Vehicle”, while projecting an active lifestyle for its buyers who are shown enjoying both the urban and rustic landscapes in equal measure.

The Avventura will be sold with petrol and turbo diesel engines borrowed from the Punto EVO. The petrol motor is a 1.4 liter-4 cylinder, naturally aspirated unit that makes 89 Bhp-115 Nm while the diesel motor is a 1.3 liter-4 cylinder Multijet unit with outputs rated at 91 Bhp-209 Nm. A five speed manual gearbox drives the front wheels of both the petrol and diesel powered Avventura.

The interiors of the Avventura are a carry over from the Punto EVO, with mild detailing changes such as the addition of the clino-meters on the center console. Apart from these minor changes, the Avventura is essentially a Punto EVO on stilts and the extensive parts sharing is expected to give Fiat attractive cost savings, allowing it to price the new product aggressively.

The Avventura is a product that is tailor-made for the Indian car market. After its launch in India, the crossover styled hatchback is expected to go on sale in other emerging markets around the world, where the demand for a similar product exists. The Avventura will be built alongside the Punto hatchback and the Linea sedan, at Fiat India’s Ranjangaon factory.
