The second half of 2014 will see Fiat India launching three new cars in the form of the Avventura Crossover, the Abarth 500 high performance hatchback and the Grande Punto facelift. While two cars – the Avventura and Punto Facelift will be built in India with an extensive amount of localization, the Abarth 500 will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).
The Avventura and the Grande Punto Facelift will be aimed at volumes while the Abarth 500 is purely a brand builder seeking to demonstrate the capabilities of Brand Fiat. In line with that, the Avventura and Grande Punto Facelift will be priced at under 10 lakh rupees while the Abarth 500 is likely to command a princely sum of 25 lakh rupees.

Expect pricing to be slightly above that of the Fiat Punto 90 HP.
Fiat Abarth 500
A sporty yet cute two seat car, the Abarth 500 will use a 1.4 liter T-Jet turbo petrol engine that outputs 135 Bhp-206 Nm. A 5 speed manual gearbox drives the front wheels of the diminutive yet power packed car. The Abarth 500 is aimed at the Mini range of sporty hatchbacks that are also available in the Indian market. The Abarth 500 will mark the introduction of Fiat’s high performance Abarth car tuning brand. The Abarth 500, likely to be priced at about 35 lakh rupees, will be a CBU. The Punto is also said to be take the Abarth route next year, albeit in localized form.
Fiat Grande Punto Facelift
Fiat India is extensively testing the facelifted version of the Grande Punto hatchback. The car will be launched by the festive season of this year. While remaining mechanically unchanged, the Punto Facelift will add equipment, a revised dashboard and better interior bits on the inside while the design gets a makeover on the outside. The car will feature new headlamps, tail lamps grille and bumpers. The Punto will continue to be offered with petrol and turbo diesel engine options. Expect the facelifted model to be slightly pricier than the outgoing version.
