Fiat India launched 2 more variants of its small car in India – the Fiat Punto 1.2 Dynamic and 1.2 Emotion.

Both the variants are powered by the 1172cc FIRE petrol engines, and are priced at Rs 4.57 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the Dynamic and Rs 4.87 lakhs Ex Delhi for the Emotion.

The new Fiat Punto Dynamic and Emotion would be available in 8 shades namely Bossa Nova White, Exotica Red, Minimal Grey, Hip Hop Black, Medium Grey, Electric Blue and 2 new Premium Colours: Fox Trot Azure and Tuscan Wine.

Standard features on both the Punto variants include

Tilt adjustable steering wheel
Front Power Windows
Fire Prevention system
Programmed service reminder
‘Follow me home’ headlights
Clutch footrest

Apart from these features the Punto Emotion variant includes:

Rear Power windows
Central locking.
Height-adjustable front seat belts.
Front and rear fog lamps.
Remote Foldable Key.
Powered mirrors
Rear wash-wipe and defogger.

As an special introductory offer, the Fiat Punto 1.2 Dynamic will come with factory fitted CD/MP3 player for a very limited time till the 15th of April.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajeev Kapoor, President & CEO, Fiat India Automobiles Ltd, said,” The Premium Hatchback segment has seen a lot of activity and witnessed a strong growth of 59% in 2009. Obligatory note on fuel economy: A milege figure of 15.2 kmpl is what Fiat claims for their 1.2 petrol engines.

Apart from the 1.2 FIRE Petrol versions, the Punto is  also available in 1.4 Fire Petrol and 1.3 Multijet Diesel engine options. Fiat currently sells the Linea, the Palio and the Fiat 500 in India. The company has been on a recovery path ever since the launch of the Fiat Linea, and sales of the Punto small car are a major boost for the company.

Fiat Punto’s competitors

With these two new variants, Fiat now has 9 variants in all in the Punto lineup. The Punto is positioned against formidable rivals such as the Maruti Swift and Ritz, Tata Indica Vista, Hyundai i10 and i20, Chevrolet Beat and the newly launched VW Polo and Ford Figo.
