First Mercedes AMG GT-R lands in India. Launch soon

Mercedes is celebrating 50 years of AMG this year and what better way to do so than to introduce a lot of AMG products in the market. The company has already launched the GLC 43 AMG Coupe, the GLS 63 AMG and the special edition G63 in the Indian market and now it is time for the might AMG GT-R, which is the more track focused version of the AMG GT, their flagship sports car.

The vehicle has been designed keeping the Nurburgring in mind and even gets a special green colour, called the “Green Hell Magno”. The main changes to the vehicle are the addition of new aerodynamic parts, to make the vehicle faster. This includes a new front bumper, new grille, new front and rear wing and this is the first ever AMG model to get rear wheel steering, allowing the vehicle to be more agile. At speeds upto 100 kmph, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction of the front ones to have better agility and at higher speeds, it turns in the same direction, increasing the stability. Power comes from the same 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 577 Bhp and 700 Nm. This is toughly 74 Bhp and 50 Nm more than the AMG GT-S that is on sale in India. It has a 0-100 time of 3.6 seconds and goes up to  a top speed of 318 kmph.

While the first vehicle has officially landed in the country, the launch has still not taken place yet. It is believed that dealers have already begun taking orders for the GT-R and that deliveries will begin after the official launch takes place. Currently, Mercedes only has one variant of its sports car on sale, the AMG GT-S. It has the same 4.0 liter engine however produces only 503 Bhp and 650 Nm. It is priced at Rs 2.39 crore, ex-showroom Delhi which means we can expect the official price of AMG GT-R to be around the 3 crore mark.
