Snapshot – The luxury SUV segment in India will really hot up as far as the launch scene goes in the next one year. The SUV buyer who has about 30 lakh rupees to splurge will have a bunch of new choices in the coming months. Images of SUVs that were previously under wrap are now in the open. We bring you images and details about five hot luxury SUVs that are India bound in the next 12 months.
All-New Toyota Fortuner
The all-new Toyota Fortuner is days away from its official reveal. As it so happens in most cases these days, images of the uncamouflaged 2016 Fortuner have already hit the interweb. The luxury SUV looks much sharper than ever before and also has completely revised interiors. Touted to be larger and more luxurious than its outgoing iteration, the new Fortuner will also play host to new, downsized turbo diesel engines in 2.4 liter and 2.8 liter capacities, but with more power and torque on offer.
All-New Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
The new Triton pick up truck from Mitsubishi serves as the base for the all-new Pajero Sport, a tough, ladder frame SUV known for its refined manners on the road and steely performance off it. The all-new Pajero Sport also gets a major revamp on the looks front. The Hindustan Motors-Mitsubishi combine is expected to bring this 7 seat luxury SUV to India by the middle of next year. Like the new Fortuner, the 2016 Pajero Sport also gets revamped engines and gearboxes, apart from new interiors and additional features.
All-New Ford Endeavour
The all-new Ford Endeavour will be previewed in India by the end of this year, setting the stage for its official launch early next year. The new Endeavour represents a major departure from the older version, in terms of looks, mechanicals, features and interiors. The new SUV seems poised to take on the Fortuners and Santa Fes of this world, with a mix of powerful engines, a terrain sensing all wheel drive system, ravishing yet butch looks, and plush interiors. Expect pricing to see an upward surge given the extra stuff that the Endeavour is bringing to the table.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer is the latest stab that General Motors will take at the Indian luxury SUV market. The Trailblazer, which was said to arrive as a CKD into India, will now be a CBU. However, General Motors is expected to use the Indo-Thai Free Trade Agreement to arrive at a competitive price tag for the massive, 7 seat SUV. The Trailblazer features a 2.8 liter turbo diesel engine that puts out 200 Bhp-500 Nm, which will make it the most powerful offering in its segment.
All-New Volkswagen Tiguan
The next generation, all-new Volkswagen Tiguan will hit the MQB switch and along the way, will transform itself into a 7 seat SUV. The big deal about the new Tiguan is that it is coming to India, and will be Volkswagen’s first CKD assembled SUV in the country. The CKD assemnly operation is expected to give Volkswagen enough leeway to price the Tiguan at a level that is close to that of the new Toyota Fortuner. The 2nd generation Tiguan is expected to be launched in India by the middle of next year. An official global unveil is scheduled for early next year.
