The Mahindra XUV700 has already proven its mettle in various parameters, with that of safety being one of the most prominent ones. The SUV has already won a 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests, which is regarded as one of the most important achievements a car can get in terms of safety. This achievement builds up a mountain of expectations from the XUV700 regarding its susceptibility to real-world crashes, and a recent example of its major accident shows that it scores well on all the claims it is making.
We have got our hands on some pictures of a Mahindra XUV700, which seems to have met a frontal impact. The pictures are by MotorBeam. The incident is from the city of Bengaluru, where a blue-coloured XUV700 met with an accident, which has left its front profile badly damaged. This accident is being considered the first major accident of the XUV700. While there are no other details related to when and how did this accident took place is available at the moment, it is reported that the occupant of the car has escaped fatal injuries. It is also not clear whether the XUV700 was a customer vehicle or a showroom demo vehicle.

In the pictures, it is visible that the front of the XUV700 has managed to absorb the impact significantly. While the front profile is completely damaged with broken headlamps, grille and front bumper and damage to the bonnet, there is no other impact on the A-pillars and beyond it.
However, in this frontal impact, the frontal airbags of the XUV700 haven’t been deployed which might look like a serious concern for some. If the airbags were unable to open, there are chances that either the driver of the XUV700 was not wearing his seat belt or the impact on the crash sensors behind the front bumper was not strong enough to send signals to the ECU of the vehicle for airbag deployment.
Mahindra XUV700 comes with a host of safety features
The XUV700 is equipped with a host of safety features, such as front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, hill start assist, hill descent control and tyre pressure monitoring system. It is also the first vehicle in its category to get an autonomous driving assistance system (ADAS) as standard, the list of which includes adaptive cruise control, smart pilot assist, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition and high beam assist.
This incident has proven that the XUV700 is capable of withstanding the strongest of the impacts and keeping its occupants safe in the event of crashes. However, it is the responsibility of the driver to drive safely within the prescribed speed limits and not under the influence of intoxications. We have seen a lot of accidents in the past, which have occurred due to pure negligence or careless driving. So, it is required to follow traffic rules and regulations and practise safe driving to avoid such fatal crashes.
