Force Motors is working on bringing up a new five-door version of its capable off-roader Gurkha. Currently available in a single three-door variant, which comes standard with a four-seater configuration, the Force Gurkha will be receiving a new five-door version, which will be longer than the three-door model and was recently spotted in a production-ready form.
The most highlighted changes in the five-door version of the Force Gurkha over its three-door counterpart are the increased length and wheelbase, which have allowed Force Motors to add two more doors. On the inside, the new five-door Force Gurkha will be available with multiple seating configurations, including the options of the bench seat and captain seats in the second row and the options of captain seats and opposite-facing jump seats for the third row. Both the third-row options of the seats in the five-door Force Gurkha were spied on during the trail runs. In contrast, the three-door version of the Gurkha comes standard with two captain seats in the second row.

Apart from the different seating configurations, the five-door Force Gurkha will retain the dark grey, the bare-basic interior of the three-door version, which comes equipped with manual AC, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and front power window controls. For the rear windows, the power window switches will be placed on the door panels. With an increase of 400mm in wheelbase, expect to have more space in the second row of seats.
Same engine as before
The five-door version of the Force Gurkha will also get the same Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre four-litre diesel engine, which comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and the four-wheel-drive system as standard. This engine develops 90 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of maximum torque. In addition to the four-wheel-drive system, the five-door version of the Gurkha is also likely to be offered with a rear-wheel-drive system as an option, which should make it more accessible to cost-conscious buyers. As in the three-door version, the five-door Gurkha 4×4 will also come equipped with a transfer case near the gear lever, a low-range gearbox and front and rear locking differentials.
Currently, the chief rival of the Force Gurkha, the Mahindra Thar is also available only as a three-door SUV, so the five-door version will offer more practicality. However, Mahindra is also working on a five-door version of the Thar, which should come on the market in 2023. In addition to it, Maruti Suzuki is also working on launching the five-door Jimny, which will also pose some challenges to the Gurkha with its off-road driving prowess.
