Ford India is working on a new version of the Ecosport compact SUV. It has been a while since it has got a facelift. So, before the new generation of the Ecosport launches, Ford has decided to launch a facelift. The facelift will make the compact SUV look a bit modern because as of now, the Ecosport looks the oldest among the competitors. As of now, Ford has officially not revealed the launch date of the facelift. However, it might be close because the compact SUV has been spied at a dealership yard also. Here, we have some pictures and a video of the Ecosport Facelift.
From the pictures, we can see that Ecosport Facelift now comes with a new front grille. The overall shape of the grille is the same but it gets a different inner design and a chrome surround. Other changes include a more rugged front bumper. There are new fog lamp housing that is surrounded by an inverted L-shape LED Daytime Running Lamp. There is also a black plastic cladding that runs across the width of the bumper and there is a new silver faux skid plate too.

The side profile is identical to the current Ecosport except for the fact that Ford has introduced new 5-spoke alloy wheels which do look more modern. There are no changes to the rear of the SUV except we see the new alloy wheel as the spare.
It seems like Ford has also slightly revised the tail lamps to now support LED units. Ford will also add a new Orange colour to the Ecosport.
Interior changes
There could be slight changes to the interior although nothing is confirmed yet. We can expect slight changes to the dashboard and revised upholstery. There could be a new generation of the touchscreen infotainment system which could be Android-based. The current SYNC3 infotainment system is also considered to be one of the best in the segment as it is smooth, responsive, easy to operate and comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
No mechanical changes
There will be no changes to the engine and gearbox options of the Ecosport. So, it will continue to get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine puts out 122 PS of max power and 149 Nm of peak torque whereas the diesel engine puts out 100 PS of max power and 215 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox comes as standard for both engines. However, you can get the petrol engine with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Prices and Competitors
The prices of the Ecosport after the Facelift are expected to increase. Currently, the Ecosport starts at Rs. 8.19 lakhs ex-showroom and goes all the way up to Rs. 11.69 lakhs ex-showroom. It will compete against Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 300, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It would also go against other affordable compact SUVs like Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
