Safety is now becoming a priority among customers who are buying a car these days. Customers look for build quality, safety features of a car before they finalise it. Looking at this trend, car manufacturers have also started building safer cars in India. sub-4 meter compact SUV segment has been very popular in the country and several manufacturers have a presence here. Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon are currently the safest cars in this segment with a 5 star rating at Global NCAP crash test.
GNCAP recently tested three made in India cars and the result were not that great. Read about the Global NCAP crash tests of Hyjndai i10 Grand NioS, Kia Seltos and Maruti SPresso here. As a response to that, Ford has now released a video that shows how safe their EcoSport compact SUV is.
The video has been shared by Ford India on their official Youtube channel. The video basically shares the customer experience or ownership experience of the Ford EcoSport. In the video, it mentions a lot about the build quality and safety aspects. It even mocks some other manufacturers for making cars like tin cans. The reassuring ‘Thud’ sound inspires confidence among the occupants.
Ford EcoSport is without any doubt one of the most under-rated cars in its segment. It even shows a dash cam footage of an accident where a truck had hit an EcoSport. The driver walked out of the injury even without a scar. They say the one footage itself is a proof of safety in real life and that is way above the 5 stars (Global NCAP). This speaks a lot about the build quality and how serious is Ford about the safety aspect. Ford has been constantly trying to stay in the market by adding certain features like a touch screen infotainment system, electric sunroof and so on. All said, Global NCAP has yet to test the India-spec Ford EcoSport in its crash test.
EcoSport has ample ground clearance which makes things easier for the driver when on a rough road or a place with no road. It is by no means a proper SUV as it does not come with AWD or 4WD option. Ford EcoSport is a butch looking sub-4 meter compact SUV that actually started the trend of compact SUVs in the country. The video even tells the EcoSport is quite engaging to drive and also has the lowest cost of maintenance in the segment.
Ford has been working on an all-new EcoSport and render images of the same had surfaced online. The SUV look of the EcoSport has been taken away and it looks more like a crossover. It is not clear whether, Ford will be introducing the new EcoSport in the Indian market as people here love SUVs. The new EcoSport is expected to share its platform with the Mahindra XUV300, a compact SUV that has scored a full five stars in the Global NCAP crash test, and who’s body structure has been rated as stable. The new EcoSport will use a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. Manual and automatic gearboxes are likely to be offered with both engines.
