Ford India has revealed official photos and some interesting features of the EcoSport production version. The EcoSport is expected to hit the Indian market in the second half of 2012 and may be priced in the range of Rs. 7 lakh – Rs. 9 lakh.
The EcoSport production version mimics the EcoSport concept showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo except for a few elements such as LED headlamps, LED tail lamps and the alloy wheel pattern.
Aggressive front: The signature trapezoid grille and elongated headlights which are part of Ford’s kinetic design theme, gives the EcoSport, a modern and urban look.
Side profile:The side profile reveals the compact dimensions of the EcoSport. The EcoSport offers 200 mm ground clearance and gets a 25 degree approach angle and a 35 degree departure angle, making it fit to tackle off-road adventures. Sharp looking rear: The rear has a sharp tail lamp cluster and a body colored spare wheel cover giving it a sporty look. The grey-colored bumper with integrated lights adds some muscle to the EcoSport.
Dual tone dashboard:The dashboard of the EcoSport largely resembles that of the global Fiesta sedan especially the central console layout. Front seats: The front seats of the EcoSport have contours that properly hug the passengers body. Space should be adequate even for tall passengers.
Ample boot space: The EcoSport offers 346 litres of luggage space and by folding the 60:40 rear split seats, the EcoSport can carry up to 560 litres of luggage. Overall, there are 20 storage spaces on the inside, including seven cup holders, a cooled glove box, a slide out drawer under the front seat and a pocket to hold an umbrella.
Interesting features: The EcoSport will come with hill launch assist, a smart start (engine start button), ABS, ESP, Traction control, steering mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity and voice activated controls.
Fuel efficient engine: The EcoSport will be powered by a 1-litre, 3-cylinder, EcoBoost petrol motor that puts out 118.4 bhp (120 PS) of power and 170 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Ford claims that the EcoBoost petrol engine can return a fuel economy of close to 20 kmpl. The EcoSport diesel version is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre motor (as in Fiesta) that puts out 90 bhp of power and 204 Nm of torque.
